Davies has surgery

As per Jay Drew's blog on SLTrib.com:



"Breaking news out of BYU tonight.

The Cougars did not practice Wednesday, but coach Dave Rose has announced that freshman center Brandon Davies has been admitted to the hospital for an appendectomy.

Davies has been ill with what was reported as a stomach virus since Monday.

He played just three minutes in Tuesday’s 76-56 win over TCU and did not score, attempting one shot.

BYU spokesperson Kyle Chilton said Rose will provide an update on Davies’ health on Thursday after practice."



Hope Brandon can get back to feeling well after going through this. I've never had appendicitis but having surgery is never fun.

This is a pretty routine surgery. I expect him to miss a week or so. It leaves your abs pretty sore. Feels kind of like you did a thousand sit-ups yesterday.

I just had the same thing on Saturday night. Hopefully he had laporoscopic b/c the recovery is faster I hear.



He'll be down at least a week I would think. Don't want to risk any unnecessary complications.

If we need him back earlier, we can always get a hold of Brandon Doman.

It seems like everybody is having an appendectomy during the game lately. ;) ;) :lol: :lol:

If you're referring to playing on Saturday after an appendectomy, I believe that was Reno Mahe. That was amazing.

Brandon Doman gave Mahe the blessing that Mahe credited for the speedy recovery. QED call Doman if Davies needs to be back ASAP.

Before it had been reported that he was suffering from a "stomach virus". At least now we know. Sometimes it can be hard to know it is appendicitis.

Over the years, it seems like there is a plague of appendicitis at BYU athletics. What's the deal? Then in football, we get all the hamstring injuries, I don't get that either.

I heard that the doctors originally diagnosed it as strep...hehe.

Lots of young guys=lots of opportunities for appendicitis.Honestly don't think it's more than that.

Losing a small part of oneself is not a big sacrifice to play for the Lord's team.

Though if you had to sacrifice a small part of yourself to play for the Lord's team, a vestigial structure isn't a bad choice. (maybe BYU should just remove tonsils, and the appendix during the recruiting process... ;) )

Whew! Shouldn't have looked just before lunch. I don't know how doctors can enjoy looking at guts like that all the time.



I joined the Church 40 days before I turned 19. A week after joining I had my appendix removed on a Friday night and I was in Sacrament meeting on Sunday. That's using the old method and not orthoscopically like they do now. I could see him back no later than 2/20 game at Wyoming.
