What's the significance of the sign he's making with his one hand. My son said there were a bunch of Utes doing that. I had never seen it before. I had always thought it was the sign for a-hole, but I don't know.

No, no problem with that, but I highly doubt he is a "beer-drinking-college-frat-kid" legally. Which I find reflects on his IQ when he is posting it on facebook.

I heard he was suspended from his team during high school as well for smoking weed, but I guess there are a number of high school kids who do that, too, so it's probably fine.

Well, I certainly wouldn't lump smoking dope in with drinking beer. Utah has pretty strict limits on who can possess and/or consume beer, so I agree that it's illegal and is to be frowned upon. It just doesn't strike me as particularly heinous.
