2022 FCS game will be Dixie State

Dixie State will travel to play the BYU Cougars at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah, on Nov. 12, 2022. The Cougars will pay the Trailblazers a $425,000 guarantee for the game.



This makes 11 games for 2022 now. 1 more away game yet to be announced.

Correct. They are moving to FCS Independent beginning in 2020.

On January 11, 2019, Dixie State announced that they will be moving their sports program up to NCAA Division I by joining the Western Athletic Conference for all sports except football, which will compete as an FCS Independent. These moves will take effect on July 1, 2020.[

I think we should schedule an FCS opponent for a 7th home game in 2022. That’s what the biggest schools do, and here’s a perfect opportunity to try it out for a year.

You do not want to do 2 FCS games in one season. Only one counts towards getting bowl eligible. Getting a series with a G5 would be better.

I'd actually prefer that we pay a G5 school for a one-and-done home game for the 7 game - THAT is what the big schools do...and I do think we should try it out.



But, I don't think BYU would spend the money necessary to make that happen. For crying out loud, we've scheduled home-away series with Middle Tennessee, Toledo and Georgia Southern.

Pay the money and recoup it on ticket sells and ESPN telecast.
