Great ranking, but....

The more we move up, the better our final seed obviously will be. But I think Dave Rose summarized it best when he said we play in a sport that has a way to determine its National Champion, so we don't concern ourselves with rankings (or something to that extend).

As Cougar fans I think we all know too well that with added hype comes added pressure. I still think we can reach a 1 or 2 seed, but until this team wins a couple of tourney games, all this: “Oh we’re 12, no, we’re already 10; we should be higher; I can’t believe they think we’re only a 6th seed right now; I wish we could have Utah State back; first team to reach 20 wins (nobody has mentioned that one yet though); 15 game win streak etc, etc, etc talk MEANS NOTHING. I am glad Rose seems to understand that.

To the Coaches, and the team it should mean nothing, BUT TO THE FANS, it is a lot.

It doesn't have meaning to the Coaches, to the team it shouldn't, but don't kid yourself.

Often young guys feed on ranking and prestige. I was watching the Kentucky vs Arkansas game and at half time they asked UK Coach Cal what it meant for him that if UK won they would probably be #1. He said it doesn't mean anything to me, but these kids want that #1 bad and they are busting their butts to get it. Arkansas didn't have a chance. Now you may say our guys are more mature but I still think it means a lot to them to be on a top 10 team. Don't kid yourself! I just hope it doesn't go to their heads and they can stay hungry.

Who gives a flying flip what it means to the UNM players, but if I played against a team that was ranked high, I would give it a little more effort than normal, especially if it was a rival team.

No BYU basketball team should ever allow anything to go their heads, we don't have the history for that to happen. We haven't won a NCAA tournament game in forever. I seriously doubt anything is going to anybody's head, but that doesn't mean they can't have a bad game (Utah State), or have a poor shooting night, or catch a team that is playing out of their heads (Florida State in football).
