Warning: this is one of those "internet legends" that "has been confirmed by former Majerus players". IT IS EXTREMELY DISGUSTING. I choose to believe it's true.



Really long story short. Majerus was extremely crewd. He is famous for (and both of these have been confirmed) for calling his players a derogatory term for female genitalia (and not the "OPP", "another way to call a cat a kitty" one, but the "C-rhymes with 'Hunt'-word") and he often demonstrated what he meant by 3 inches by dropping his drawers and flashing his own 3-inch, um, appendage. He also once called Lance Allred, who was completely deaf in one hear and half deaf in the other, that he was an "embarrassment to cripples" and that he'd been coasting through life based mostly on pity for his "handicap."



Anyway, a couple hours before a game, Majerus was in the team room going over some strategy on the chalk board. All of the sudden he screamed for a manager to bring him a towel. (He made it a point to treat the managers poorly, never bothering to even hear their names, let alone learn them.) The nervous manager handed him a towel and he squatted out a deuce right there in the towel, being careful to use part of it to clean himself off. After this, he handed the ball of towel and bowel, asking the manager to "take care of this".

I remember watching one of his coach's shows when I was at BYU... it was probably 1994. Anyhoo, his guest was one of his players and the player's wife, who as I recall was a Yoot gymnast. They were talking about game preparation and focus off the court, when Majerus then proclaimed that it was probably hard for this kid to focus off the court when he was going home to "that hot body every night". You can probably imagine the awkward silence that followed.



I kid you not.

I've had one personal encounter with Mawalrus. My highschool choir was one of several SL Valley choirs practicing for the annual Veteran's Day concert at the Huntsman Center. During the practice, Majerus came lumbering up the aisle cutting through our section. I was about 4 seats from the aisle and as he waddled past us I shouted, "hey, it's Penguin from the Batman movie!" The best thing about this story is that at the time they were working on the women's parts, so we were just sitting around doing nothing. They had just finished singing and the arena got really quiet just as I made my comment, so everybody heard it, including Majerus. (I obviously intended my friends to hear it, but not him.) He shot an "I'm going to kill you" look to our section, but he had no idea who said it. Everyone was laughing at him and he left in a huff.

Good one byutx. That made me remember my only Majerus encounter. It was Yootah in the MC when Van Horn was a freshman. I was about row 3 behind the goal, but real close to the Yoot bench. Majerus had been blowing his stack a good part of the game and at one point I thought he was going to have a heart attack. Huffing anf puffing with his face bright red. He wouldn't let up. So I yelled out, "shut up and sit down fat boy" just at the exact right moment where the crowd noise let up for a fraction of a second. He looked straight at me and then shut the hell up. Now, I realize that the odds that he was obeying my command were slightly less likely than the odds that he actually heard me, but the folks around me sure got a kick out of imagining that he had.



This was the game where Majerus said in the post-game press conference that Van Horn didn't play well because he was a teenage freshman going up against Russell Larson, a grown man and a senior. Presumably a shot at the fact that Larson was an RM. Which was typical hypocritical Majerus considering the number of RMs he coached.
