What's the difference...

Between SOS and RPI? Sorry I haven't the time to google it & I know someone here can give me a quick and accurate definition. I saw one site that had BYU with an SOS of 60

SOS= Strength of Schedule and RPI= Ratings Percentage Index. The RPI is kinda like the BCS formula for college basketball but a little bit different. Hopefully that helps you.

So RPI calculates wins/losses, margin of victory, locations of games (home/away), etc. That kind of stuff? I guess that explains why RPI is so much higher than SOS right now.

Yep.

One of the two also factors in winning pct of your opponents opponents, which makes no sense, since you have no control over this factor.

SOS is how tough your overall schedule is. So 60 would mean we are ranked #60. These numbers show we are better than what our schedule has been.

SOS is what Boylen and the Utes have as their plan for BEFORE they play us...

RPI is actually a typo; it should be RIP which is what Boylen and the Utes have AFTER we play them
