Would you rather ???

Win a BCS National Championship or have college football institute a playoff? Winning A NC would be much more difficult with a playoff, but at least it would be fair. A BCS national championship would be easier to achieve but then we would be in the same group as the BCS big boys, screwing everyone else over. I'm not sure what i would rather have.

BYU winning the BCS national championship is what WILL cause a playoff to be instituted.

I choose.....

So the question is would I rather:



(1) Have BYU win the BCS National Championship



or



(2) Have college football institute a playoff?



BCS championship, and the answer is not even close. I'd rather have BYU somehow manage to finish #1 in the AP Poll without even making the BCS National Championship than have college football implement a playoff game, and that's not close either. I'd choose BYU in the Rose Bowl over college football playoff, but BYU in any other BCS game versus a college football playoff might be close.



In this case pragmatism wins over ideology.

The point of it all is to be #1. So whether it is AP, BCS or playoff, #1 is the goal. Winning the BCS title is greater than a playoff in that regard.

People say that it would be "harder" to win an NC with a playoff, but how many times have we had a shot to go to the BCS championship game? ZERO. We would have a much, much better chance of getting into a playoff bracket. And, even if we only had a 1% chance of winning out in the playoff, it's still better than 0%
