Now before you dismiss this as some random guy, he apparently announced Dastrup was transferring a month before the official announcement.

We'll see if there's any truth to this, but if so it's yet another talented player BYU has lost due to mismanagement.

If true... WOOF!

I really liked him as a player. Why were his minutes reduced? Sad to see him not fight to get his minutes back unless he thought he was being treated unfairly.

This team is a complete mess.

How many minutes does a point guard get who shoots less than 25 percent from three point line and less than 45 percent overall?

More Chaos and collateral damage courtesy of Mr Nick Emery. Thanks Nick.

He was not a great shooter, but he was quick, could penetrate, and played great defense. And 45% for a guard is not bad 25% from 3 is just about average for this team. Is Cannon going to shoot better than those numbers and have the ability to penetrate and play better defense?

Sad comment. How is this Nick's fault? Yep, just blame Nick for everything. In fact, had Nick not left the team in the first place Hardnett never gets a single start here at BYU.

You don't quit on your team in the middle of the season over playing time, IMHO.

My guess is that this is a personality conflict or other non-hoops issues.

Yes, I have thought the same thing. Possible he violated a team rule or maybe the HC or like you suggested maybe him and Rose (or another coach/player) just did not get along.

Guy drops 17 on Pacific off the bench. Wins the game for us and then he gets 5 min against SMC.

Pretty sure it has to do with playing time.

Something must have happened to cause the reduction in playing time. If not, then Rose really is an idiot.

Jashir is averaging almost 11 pts a game. Cannon is getting 2.4.

Of the starting 5 against SMC, Childs had 21pt, Haws had 20, and Harding had 5.

Next highest scorer was Emery.

So...Rose played our quickest, best perimeter defender that scores 10 pts a game only 5 min.

Either Jashir broke some team rule or Rose is an idiot. I'm leaning toward the later given Rose's record and trends as of late.

CougarBoard was saying that Hardnett refused to re-enter the Saint Mary's game. Which brought things to a head. There has been problems back to before the season started allegedly though--playing style and usage-wise. But an inability to shoot in Rose's gunning offense is a problem with fit.

So how does he want to be used? Like Jimmer? I think he's actually a great fit if you surround him with some great scorers/shooters. At the Cougar Tipoff I told him that he reminded me of Avery Johnson in his play style, but perhaps him or Rose wants him to be more than that?

He was a starter. Got demoted. Roared back and probably thought he deserved to be a starter agian. I tend to agree. Why didn't he start against SMC?

Now, throwing a temper tantrum on the bench is no way to handle it either.

Based on the Rose show - he might not be as done as many think. Coach Rose is trying to work with him to not make an important decision while he’s angry. Good for them for reaching the breaking point and not immediately breaking. Hopefully he stays (and not because the team is going to do anything special this year - but because I’m pretty sure that he has more options by not jumping ship mid stream)

Rose needs to be done.

Kalani needs to be done.

Holmoe needs to be done.

Until then, expect mediocrity.
