Who knows how Peery would do, but it is getting more obvious with each game that it is time for someone else to have a turn. Rose has earned the right to go out on his terms, but it is looking like it needs to be sooner, rather than later.

Sounds like a viable option. It would help him to get a couple more years of experience as the HC at PSU.

The extension came as a surprise to many fans. Anyone watching the team for the past few years could tell we have been a declining program--those claiming Rose is a top 15 coach excepted. One has to wonder what Holmoe was thinking.

He gave Rose the extension so he could catch Stan Watts in career wins. But he's not going to get that before this current extension finishes. He's going to need another one.

I feel a return to 1996 is coming, minus the coaching change drama but with all the losses.

So if Elijah Bryant and Mike were still with the team as planned would Coach Rose be past his prime.

One could easily ask whether Bryant and Mika would have stayed if Rose were not past his prime. It appears that they left because they realized that they were not going to develop any further at BYU so they might as well make more money in the professional leagues than stay. Perhaps if they believed that Rose could develop them further they might have stayed.

Pretty much this. And if a coach in this day and age is banking on all of his players sticking around for their senior season then he his past his prime by 5-10 years.
