BYU at #13

BYU is number 13 in today's USA Today poll. I was expecting 14, but maybe the cougs are getting some respect from the voters. Just keep winning games boys.

Uconn and UNC with 6 losses, still ranked; neither team is deserving. I saw UNC play last week, and they were pretty bad, BYU would have killed them.



If BYU keeps winning, I see them going as high as number 8, but I think the voting "cartel" will not allow them to go higher--regardless of their record.

And BYU and Gonzaga are the only teams west of the Rockies that are ranked. Still, UNLV, SDSU and New Mexico all received votes.

We need either UNLV/SDSU/NM to get ranked.



Anyone else think it is SICK a 6 loss, is ahead of a 1 loss ?

Lunardi and Bracketology has BYU as #4 seed playing Pacific who is a #13 seed in Spokane/SLC regional.in this theoretical scenario we would play the winner of GT/Illini game to get to the sweet 16.it this were to happen pencil us in to the Sweet 16,that's a pretty doable road.

As did ASU and Saint Mary's which are in the west. The ASU win is looking better and better and UNM is close to being ranked. If UNM beats AFA and CSU next week they could be ranked when we play them. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

i for one am amazed at the billing the PAC-0 is currently getting from all basketball talking heads. Yes their fall has been meteoric, but how about a few bones for the shooting BYU stars!

If we finish with 30+ wins I anticipate we'll probably finish around #10.



UNM being ranked in the top 25 would do us a big favor, especially when we beat them. I don't think UNLV will get there.



Coolest thing I am excited about is our current win streak (13 games). NCAA tourney committee loves win streaks.

What we haven't seen yet is the ultimate inequity in the rankings...(as it pertains to us)



When and if BYU loses a game to UNM, SDSU, UNLV etc. we'll take a 6-7 spot drop quickly; while teams like Butler and North Carolina have gotten much love while playing very average hoops.

How could one road loss at UNM SDSU or UNLV be worse that what UNC and others have done?



At some point it'll happen (I can't imagine winning out; it'd blow my mind) and the day those rankings come out I'll be muttering "f***ing tarheels" all day long.



I'd say we have a 1/3 shot at coming from the sdsu unm roadie intact.

In that same time, the ACC, Big East, and Big 12 will continue to canibalize themselves... If we're not in the top 10 after winning the next 3 games, I'll go ballistic.

Other people are starting to notice the inequity... but not yet as it pertains to us.

BYU will be 20-1 by Saturday night. The real test for this team is going to be playing SDSU and New Mexico on the road. If they put those two team away, there's nothing stopping these guys from meeting any goal they have.



Do I think BYU will go undefeated in league play? Frankly, no, since that hasn't happened in a long time. But it could, these guys are better than any team I've seen play in quite a few years, so here's hoping.

Same day as BYU beats Wyoming. I wonder how much BYU gets a push from this? I guess we won't know anything until after the SDSU game anyway. A win there should guarantee at least a two-spot jump.

Yes, but Georgetown (#14 right behind us) could leap us for beating that Pitt team. And where to you see Duke ranked #12? I see them #7 (AP) and #6 (ESPN). So they may not drop far enough. But yeah, with all the games on Saturday and Sunday, and looking at the match-ups, I think we will probably move up 3 spots come Monday morning (move past Pitt, Duke when they lose again this week to Clemson, West Virginia when they lose to Ohio State, Georgetown doesn't leap us after our solid win at SDSU). I don't see us moving more than that.

Good point about Georgetown, but they have lost three (may not matter). Also, they are ahead of us in the AP. Duke may get by on reputation. I had them dropping because they now have a fourth loss. You're probably right, they may not drop below us. I don't believe its right, but it may be reality.
