Ranking Projection: January 18th

BYU will move up in the AP poll this week. My prediction is that they will be between #12 and #14, based on who won and who loss. In particular, they will pass Purdue (two losses), North Carolina (two losses), UConn and Wisconsin. They may pass West Virginia as well, and based upon their poll movement have a decent shot at jumping Gonzaga. It is highly unlikely anyone will pass them from behind because of how many of those teams lost and the winners' distance from BYU.



New Mexico is also likely to return to the AP poll after a one week hiatus, right around #24 or #25.



BYU is in very good company right now. Only two undefeated teams remain and five (including BYU) one-loss teams. The two undefeated teams are and will be #1 and #2. Three of the other four one-loss teams are and will be #3-#5. The last one-loss team will finally make it into the Top 25 this week (Northern Iowa).

Carolina should drop out of the rankings. A team with 6 losses should not be ranked.
