Wayne Tei-Kirby = latest transfer out

Talo Steves reports that more transfers are coming.



BYU must be really, really deep.

We will certainly miss his zero tackles and zero defensive snaps production from this year. I wonder who can take up that slack next year.

I think it is more with the players than BYU.



Folau committed to Stanford, then Wisconsin, then Oregon St., then BYU, and then . . .



It sounds like college is hard for Kirby.

I am not sure how as a true freshman at Oregon he played in 9 games but cant get on the field at BYU. Really, what am I missing?

Tei-Kirby has been a head-scratcher all season. For as highly touted as he was transferring from Oregon, he never saw the field after sitting out last season due to the transfer rule. On the latest depth charts from Cougar Sports Wire guys, he was #6 on the depth chart at Nose Tackle--only ahead of the legendary Mo Langi.

Folau also did not play all season. If they aren't able to contribute whether it is due to injury, academics, discipline, whatever it may be, I'm glad the scholarships are being freed up and hopefully can be used for someone who can contribute instead of standing on the sidelines. I hope the players can find somewhere to contribute and have some success.

The bigger story I see is that "top recruits" in a "best recruiting class" don't always pan out like other less heralded players/classes do. The best transfer that came in has been Tristen Hoge hands down.

Don't forget that Sitake also brought in Tonga, Empey, Lee, Katoa, and Collie.

I do think both Folau and Kirby would have been in the mix next year. But, BYU's defense is fine. We really do have quality players and loads of depth in the front 7.

I agree, this "fine" defense gave up 28 points in a quarter and a half to the utes. (with no turnovers)

I'm aware. Its not the only place I've seen that another commit is expected this week/weekend. The other place is a pay site so I'm not comfortable posting their stuff here without another outside link. ;)

That's fair, I just didn't want anyone to get confused into thinking that was an actual Talo account.
