Kansas State has hired North Dakota State's Chris Klieman as its next head coach. Kleiman has gone 67-6 with three Football Championship Subdivision national championships at North Dakota State. Klieman agreed to a six-year deal with Kansas State, paying him $2.3 million per year with a $200,000 annual raise, the Big 12 school said.

What do you guys think about Klieman as a coach and his salary? If you were a KSU fan would you be content/happy? Would you be happy if BYU hired him at this stage in his career at this salary?

He has a better record against FBS teams than Kalani Shitake.

FWIW, he is undefeated against FBS and P5 teams, including a win at #13 Iowa a couple years back.

Good for him. It will be interesting to see if he can replicate his FCS success at the P5 level. As for the question about if he were at BYU, I can’t say I’m familiar with his coaching style or schemes. He seems to have earned a shot though.

It seems low for a P5 job. Wouldn't put him in the top 50 of coaches salaries. I wonder what the assistant salary pool will be. It's pretty clear why alot of coaches passed on that job.

I'd be happier than if they hired say the Kansas or Rutgers or Louisville or Oregon St DC.

Successful head coaches from lower division schools actually pretty well compared to a coordinator from a P5 school.

It's probably more than double what we would pay.

I don't agree with paying college coaches million dollar salaries so no, I wouldn't like BYU paying that. I don't blame the coaches for taking it.
