Could the Olympic sports help get BYU in BIG12?

The VB announcers were complementary of their BYU experience. Having Michigan, Florida and Texas play this weekend is big. They are the biggest name schools to visit. I can't help but wonder if these kind of positive exposure with the Y through our Olympic sports will pave the way to gain an invite to the P5 world. This is the best way to fight false rumors about us.



Maybe TH needs to bring back wrestling and get it in the BIG12 conference to help build relationships with them.

If BYU could bring back wrestling, I think the hype and support would be yuuuuuuuge.

If basketball did something, that might help, but Olympic sports have no draw.

Not gonna happen. They just axed the club program---the one that didn't cost them a penny.

Sorry, but no one in the big12 cares about Olympic sports. It is all about football and a distant second Men's basketball.

Sorry that people are misunderstanding me. I did not mean that the Big12 would take us to get our Olympic teams but that the Olympic teams could be the means for them to get to know us and better understand who we really are. That they could break down barriers of misunderstanding of us.

Another effect of the WVB is that it is creating new BYU fans among our own and possibility of other fan bases. I am curious to see what kind of tv ratings these games are getting. Now volleyball is not a huge draw but it could be better than last year.

The Big 12 took a good hard look at BYU, in 2011 and 2016. If BYU did warrant an invitation then, especially in 2011 when the conference was desperate, I doubt there will be a third opportunity.
