Vegas oddsmakers open Utah up as 13 1/2 point favorite.

Odds of Ute players or fans having their mugshots taken by the police at least once in their life is at least 50%.

Isn't this just asking for Max Hall's mug shot to be posted here also?

Difference is, the Max Hall arrest was an anomaly. With the Utes, it's almost a rite of passage.

Is that all? Dang, they are being generous to BYU.

My thoughts exactly. If we couldn't even muster 7 points vs. NIU's 27th ranked D in Provo, how are we gonna move the ball against Utah's top 15 D in Salt Lake?

I was and could be a lot more cockier and trash-mouthed back when we weren't seeing this many wins strung in a row by Puktah.

The only way BYU wins is zero turnovers and great execution. It's that simple. The Pukes can be beat, but history of the last decade says that BYU has to quit playing very stupid ball like they're mesmerized by the letter "U".

BYU can win this game but a few things have to happen for it to become a reality. 1st thing, BYU needs to play better in this game than they have all year. The offensive line is going to have to come out and dominate like they did against Wisconsin, or better. Kalani is going to have to coach like he did in the Wisconsin game, loose and with a lot of fire. The receivers are going to have to play tough physical ball, like we haven't seen since Austin Collie left after the 08 season. The defense is going to have to play tough and aggressive and is going to have to dominate the line of scrimmage and is going to have to punish receivers for catching the ball, similar to what Washington did to Covey when Washington beat them earlier in the year. Last of all, the utes are going to have to over look BYU and not come out with the same fire that they have been known to come out with against BYU under Kwhit. If all of this happens, BYU might pull out a close victory, other than that, we are going to get whipped. Personally, I don't see it. This team hasn't played with any fire since Wisconsin and I don't see it changing until this coaching staff gets changed.

What's with Kalani not being so loose? Like you said, he was during the Wisconsin game, but that has been missing most of the season. I'm a big Bronco fan, but I always hated the constipated look he had on the sidelines and one of the things I love about Kalani is his ethusiasm/fire/emotions. The players feed off of that!

Well BYU probably will struggle, but there is one way to expect they could score at RE: it could be that Utah's defense is not top 15. Now I know that's crazy talk at this point in the season, but here's how I figure it. Outside of the PAC 12, the only teams Utah played were NIU and Weber state. That's it. Meanwhile, the PAC 12 is having their worst season in years, maybe a couple of decades. The highest Playoff-ranked team in the PAC 12 is WSU at 8. EIGHT! Just above UCF! The second highest ranked team is Utah at #17.

Given that only ONE PAC-12 team is ranked above 15 and that Utah has, essentially only played PAC 12 teams, then there is NO WAY that their defense could objectively be ranked at 15. I know that such statistics are largely mythical anyway, but these circumstances strike me as a bit more mythical than usual.

So sure Utah's defense is good, but don't forget that NIU scored six on Utah and only 7 on us. It is possible that Utah's defense is on par with BYU's and not some uber-PAC 12 thing. I think a Zach-led offense might surprise Utah a bit.

I still think a BYU win is an outlier probability, and I'm not confident BYU will cover the spread, but I simply think Utah's defense is over-rated. Here's hoping they believe their own press clippings and BYU gets a chance to catch them looking ahead to the Championship game.

I might agree with you about Wilson if this was going to be his first start, but KWhit has plenty of game film on him at this point to devise a game plan to neutralize his effectiveness on offense. He is a master at it. Unfortunately Zach won't be surprising anyone.

Quality of opponent is not a legit argument and I don't buy it. Everyone used to say the same thing about BYU in the 80's. It is the last game of the regular season, if the utes defense is ranked top 15, it is legit.
