I know it doesn't really matter in the end, but I'm pretty sure that those six defensive touchdowns happened in only two of the games.

Two of those were in the Las Vegas bowl if I remember correctly.

So actually the only game in which the defensive TDs didn't change the outcome was in the 2011 debacle. In all the other games, they represented the winning margins.

BYU has now given up at least one defensive touchdown in 2018, 2016, 2015, 2012, and 2011. And in every game except the 2011 game, that defensive score wound up being decisive in the margin of victory.

BYU has now given up at least one defensive touchdown in 2018, 2016, 2015, 2012, and 2011. And in every game except the 2011 game, that defensive score wound up being decisive in the margin of victory.

Technically not this year because even without the pick 6, BYU loses by 1. The defensive score would have meant nothing if BYU's defensive coaches would have been smart enough to adjust their defensive schemes to accommodate the loss of Isaiah Kaufusi.

I believe that is incorrect. Without the pick six, BYU is ahead by 1 with around two minutes to go. They are able to run the clock down to under a minute and then punt. That last touchdown never happens, and likely neither does the winning touchdown.

Well, first of all, your math is wrong. If you take away the pick 6, BYU technically following the way the game flow was without it, would have been ahead 27-21 with that 4th down play coming up. BYU would have punted the ball and given it back to the utes with time on the clock. Yes, we might have done something the defense hadn't done in the second half, like stop their offense, but really, that QB that ran the ball in from 40 yards out probably wouldn't have been touched from 80 either, it would have just given the utes more total yards at the end of the game, and we still would have lost 28-27.
