Utah beats UNLV in LV... say what!?

I'm on the east coast so I didn't find out about this until Sunday but I can't believe my eyes that Utah (RPI 160) just beat UNLV (RPI 30) in Las Vegas! The recap calls it a close game down the stretch but how in the world did UNLV choke so hard? Is there some special circumstance that I don't know about? UNLV should have won that game by 20.

They beat UNLV because the conference teams only care about one home game: when BYU comes to to town. Vegas simply didn't come to the game with the same level of intensity they brought to Provo last week or will bring when BYU comes to town. This is also why BYU will win the conference by at least two games.



BYU is the most mentally tough team in the conference in addition to being the best team. They are strong enough to handle every opposing team's home court and fans. They may not win each road game, but they'll be in every game. They're strong enough to take everyone's best shot and come out ahead most of the time.



Everyone else will trip all over themselves as they struggle to play each other. Conference play is long. You can't afford to get so up for one or two games because you're putting at risk several other games. BYU will be the only team to not lose a home game and they're the only team good enough to win six or seven road games.



BYU will finish the regular season at 30-2 and a 15-1 conference record.

The Rebels did not want to be in this game. Their hopes were for the Staples Center, and they felt slighted that they had to play an inferior opponent :utard: in Las Vegas. ;) :skeptic: :whistle:

Or the intensity that they took with them to NM.





Agreed, BYU is going to lose 1 maybe 2 conference games. I'm just glad my prediction of a perfect conference route is still valid.
