Zack Wilson at the Utah game

I think most on here know that Zack Wilsons family is huge Utah fans and have season tickets on the 50 yard line right next to Kyle Whittinghams family. Last night he went to the Utes game with his family.

It got me thinking and maybe I'm over thinking it but hear me out.



This week Utah's 4 star recruit Jack Tuttle put his name on the transfer list ending his short stay in Utah. What a lot of people don't know is Jack is the reason Zack didn't go to Utah. Who's to say now that Jacks gone Zack doesn't play the season out as the starting QB at BYU and at the end of the year transfers to Utah. He would red shirt next year while Tyler Huntley plays out his senior season and Zack could be the starting qb in 2020 for Utah. The next time USC comes to Utah Zack instead of watching from the stands with his mom could be playing in the game as a transfer red shirt sophmore.



Honestly why wouldn't he. His family is big Utah fans he grew up loving the U his families loyalties still fall with Utah. Utah is headed in all the right directions and plays in the pac12. You know his parents would love to have him at Utah and are not going to try and talk him out of transferring.



Maybe I'm over thinking it but I fully expect Zack to be a Ute come Febuary 2019.

Yeah, he's wearing a BYU shirt at the utah game. Sounds like he has transferring on his mind.

Wilson is not going to transfer to another program where he will have to sit out an additional year. Redshirting is becoming a much more unpopular option for players anyway; especially for those with NFL hopes. If BYU does reasonably well with Wilson at the helm, he will be a BYU cougar for good. And you better believe he has the Utah game circled on his calendar. He will want to beat them as much as or more than anyone else on the team.

I was thinking similar thoughts. Odd.

That would be completely ignoring the presence of redshirt freshman backup Jason Shelley who Tuttle couldn't displace. It would be a huge gamble to give up the starting spot at BYU in hopes you can beat out Shelley and the new 4-star recruits that Utah is looking at right now for the Utes starting job after sitting out a year.

I honestly don't know what to think. I'm not bothered by him attending the game given all the circumstances and I don't think it adds anything that should fuel speculation. In my opinion, he only would consider transferring if there was something about his opportunity that rubs him wrong and he'll stay a Cougar.

Then BYU should have kept Mangum as the starter.

Maybe having a QB that grew up a Ute fan, and doesn't hate them is what we need to break the Max Hall curse... ;) I highly doubt Wilson will transfer.

As far as I'm concerned, Wilson can go to all the Utah games he wants (hopefully to scout them out) as long as he consistently performs and wins for BYU.

I would be very surprised if Wilson transfers. Of course, if we lose out the rest of the year, all bets are off.

I still want BYU to win out if Kalani is to keep his job. I want to see consistancy. This team is wildly inconsistant and people are giving Kalani excuses that Bronco was never given. (youth, Injuries, blah, blah, blah)

one of the legit criticisms was Broncos result in the Utah games. He did win 2 of the first 3 however and took 05 to OT I believe. So a question for the big kalani supporters, if kalani goes 0-3 This year, what do we do? "law of diminishing returns" was often quoted in the rivalry record. Don't know how you get lower than 0-3 to Utah and going 1-2 to USU during that time. We are the worst of the 3 by far these 3 years.

O-3 against Utah and 1-2 to USU shows a downward trend.

Recruiting rankings also show a downward trend.

Sitake would have to win out (including the bowl game) for me to even consider wanting him to stay. But the chances of that are next to zero so I'm already on the "Fire Sitake" train. I'm not giving him any allowances that I didn't give Bronco.



But just because Sitake hasn't worked out, that doesn't mean a change wasn't needed or that I wish we still had Bronco. I knew there very well may be some rough sledding before we found a viable alternative.



And we have to remember this downward trend is as much on Holmoe as anyone. He couldn't get us into the BIG 12. He has scheduled an average of five P5 teams (plus Boise State) a year since going independent but we don't have P5 depth. And he passed on guys like Anderson or Niumatalolo for Sitake.

DO you seriously believe that the reason that we're not in the Big 12 is Tom Holmoe?

There were several reasons, of which he was one. He didn't get the job done, period.



And now he's not getting the job done in independence.
