He came to the US as an exchange student his junior year of high school. His head coach is former BYU Assistant Jeff Reinert. He is from Shanghai and knows all about Sharks legend Jimmer.

BYU is still chasing Isaac Johnson C from American Fork. #1 player in Utah with offers from BYU, Gonzaga, Kansas State, Southern Utah, Stanford, Utah, Utah State.



2019-20 will also see the return of missionary G Colby Leifson who left after his 2016-17 freshman year and G Trevin Knell who flipped his commit from Cal to BYU after Cal's HC left prior to his mission.



G Hunter Ericson out of Timpview is currently on a mission and will return for the 2020-21 season.

This doesn't sound like an exciting list, but I'm a distant observor. How good are these players? Who's the best among the bunch?

Maybe they'll play solid team ball. I'll take that.

Li is 6'10" (now) but I couldn't find his weight, however he isn't skinny. His stats aren't great but I believe he has great potential. We may finally have a real center.

I watched the highlight video - I'm not all that impressed. It is telling when one of the first highlights is a free throw (and not even a swished free throw) I get that one cannot coach height. But we have a lackluster track record with developing big men.

Trevin Knell is probably the biggest name on the recruiting scene on that list. He is a 6'5" shooting guard out of Woods Cross, UT who had offers from Cal, Air Force, BYU, Montana, Rice, Robert Morris, San Diego, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, Utah Valley, Weber State, and Wyoming. He committed to Cal, but then right before leaving for his mission Cal's coach was let go. He then flipped his commitment to BYU. He will be back this summer and should appear on the 2019-20 team.

Brazilian 6' 9" 210 SF Bernardo Da Silva from Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah had offers from Grand Canyon, Southern Utah, Southern, and Florida International. He plays on AAU team Utah Mountain Stars who are coached by Marty Haws and Kevin Nixon and has strong connections to former BYU director of basketball operations Walter Roese--the same pipeline that produced Rafael Araujo and Luiz Lemes. He has scored 254 points in the last two years at Wasatch Academy in 52 games.
