So where has Kafusi been the past two weeks?

After the Wisconsin game, I watched every replay and analysis I could find. I wanted to see if there was anything that would show that the defense, and therefore BYU, was for real, and likely to stay that way through the whole season. One thing that became more and more apparent is the influence of C. Kafusi in that game. Takitaki had an amazing game, but almost all of his solo tackles were strongly set up by the fact that Kafusi was causing a big disruption nearby. I had this growing nervousness that the BYU defense might be the equivalent of Jimmer's basketball team--a one man show.

The past two weeks seem like they've been a one-man no-show, and the defense has been inexplicably ineffective. Is it possible that opposing offenses have simply doubled him and neutralized him and by extension squelched the effectiveness of the defense?

He's been so good as one of BYU's only 4 pass rushers, Sitake and Tuiaki have done the only logical thing--they have been taking him off the line and putting him at OLB and letting Takitaki play MLB.

You know -- it's what all great defensive coaches do -- take players who are excelling and move them away from where they are excelling.

We need more multi position players. Yes, indeed.

He's been about 15 yards off of the receivers as he attempts to cover a zone.

Wow. I totally missed that move. Ridiculous. In my limited knowledge, however, I'd say that one move, alone, accounts for 80% of the failure of the defense over the past two weeks, because Kafusi was influential in at least 80% of the plays at Wisconsin.

This!!! They used Kaufusi as a spy on Washington’s QB. Our coaches wasted Kaufusi’s primary talent and allowed the Washington qb to set a passer efficiency record against us, all because we needed a “spy” just in case their qb was going to run the ball.

This strategy made total sense against Arizona who has a running qb that can also throw. It made zero sense against Washington.

Anyone know if Tuiaki is on Coach Pete's payroll? Because if true (and I wasn't able to see that game; just listened to it), I can't think of a better way to gift wrap a game for Washington than to pull Corbin off the line for a significant amount of snaps.
