I'm done with this coaching staff

to start off, I felt that BYU was going to lose this game before it started. I knew USU was a good team and an explosive offense but I had hoped that the Wisconsin version of the BYU team would show up. Well, BYU got dominated physically both offensively and defensively and that is simply unacceptable IMO. This coaching staff, especially the defensive, is simply too soft. BYU should never get dominated physically at home against Utah state, never. I couldn't care less if BYU wins out (I'm pretty sure they won't, they may lose to Hawaii next week), I want this coaching staff gone and one hired who can get the players to put a physical whipping on the other team even in a loss. I can guarandamntee you that a Bronco led football team would have played much more physical than this one does. Bronco's teams used to deal out the punishment, especially on defense. I know a lot of you are going to eye roll with me bringing up Bronco again but that is just life when the boosters run off a good coach because they don't like his personality and bring in one of the good ole boys and now we get dominated physically by Utah state at home. :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :sick: :sulk:

Kalani will likely get another year. Sad but true.



But as a trade-off, Tuiaki needs to be gone. I'm not going to another game with him as DC.

I love BYU football. It is the only sport I follow passionately anymore. I will find it really hard to watch next year if Him and Tuiaki are still here. I am seriously done with this coaching staff. They need to go.

Folks, if you want change, you need to do two things:

1) Let Holmoe know how dissatisfied you are.

2) Not go to anymore BYU games.

I don't know how much time the receivers spend catching balls in practice but it needs to double.

There are enough winnable games left on the schedule that there is ZERO REASON to have a losing record.



Like I said in another thread, even if we lose to Boise State and Utah, and split Hawaii and UMass, we should still beat Northern Illinois and New Mexico State. That would get us to 6 wins.



Less than that shows a breathtakingly incompetent coaching staff and implosion of a team that is hard to imagine.

I know USU is a good team and I actually didn't expect BYU to win this game but I did hope for a competitive showing. I wasn't expecting to get completely manhandled by a team who has no more talent (probably less talent) than we have. I actually have no faith in us being able to win most of the rest of our games with the exception of Umass.

Umass scored 42 on an undefeated South Florida today. I have my doubts that they even win that one plus the added bonus that they beat BYU last year. I started drinking just a little blue Kool Aid after Wisconsin but have spit it all out because it tastes like bile.Its a sad time to be a Cougar Football fan. All stumbling into a bowl does is prolong the agony. I dont hold out much hope that the current staff can get it done and I do not see anyone else out there to take over.

Before one goes too far, I think there’s a rule of life to be remembered: it can always get worse. Always. So go forward with care.

I'm actually hoping the rest of the season is a disaster so we can put Sitake years behind us. Don't want to waste a good QB like Wilson.

I will never hope for BYU to lose against anyone, no matter what it means for the coaching staff one way or the other.

You don’t have to hope we lose—ever. This team is so close to imploding why even confess and sacrifice your apparent fake true-blue-ness to get that result?

You hate Kalani so much that you want to see BYU lose out :skeptic: . If they lose out they put BYU in a recruiting hole that no matter who you think is walking through the door to coach isn't going to be able to dig out of for YEARS!



Kalani is a former byu player, you are rooting against a former player someone who is a part of this programs history and a direct link back the Edwards era.



I don't want Kalani fired I want him to figure it out and bring BYU back to there winning ways. I do however want to see some changes on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe Kalani needs to do as Bronco did and take the defense over. If your going to fail go down swinging with your own hands throwing the punches.

Everyone can worry about the tree infront of them, that's fine. I'm looking further. And I see nothing fake about that. Two options:



1) Kalani miraculously turns it around. He figures out how to coach and get his staff opperating at a higher level. He makes what changes are necessary or gets current staff to step up.

2) BYU cuts it's losses and gets a new HC. It opens risk. Someone may not be better than Sitake. Someone may be exceptional. It may take another season to right the ship. It may be an instant improvement. Of all sports, coaching has the biggest impact on football.



I prefer option 2. I don't see why that means I'm a bad fan.



We have 3 years of data with Sitake as coach. After each loss he talks about fixing things and getting better that he'll go back and take care of it. Has that happened? Nope. So, I see no reason to believe it will now. You can keep dumping quarters into a slot machine that has a slim chance of a payout or you can walk away.



Holmoe isn't going to make a change unless he HAS to. Crowton lost his job not so much because of the poor performance of the team but because of HC issues. BYU has a history of making changes slowly. So...unless things become dire quickly or there are HC issues, we're not going to see a change. BTW, I don't think it was coincidence that there were major HC issues on a losing team.

If you are LDS, you can go to Utah, USU, or even go play for Bronco. All LDS-friendly coaching staffs. Each season that BYU wallows in mediocrity while teams like USU rise is a season we lose recruits.

Did you forget KS was 9-4 his first year? Is that not good enough for you? If that's not good enough for you I hope you realize that's part of the reason Bronco wanted out of Provo. Unrealistic expectations from fans.

Realistically he's only had one BAD year. We are 6 games in to the season. They got beat by a top 25 team, they got beat by a top 10 team and now they've been beaten by a team who's receiving votes in both major polls.

They season isn't over and you've already jumped to let's fire everyone. I'm willing to bet that you didn't like the hire form the moment it was announced.



Maybe KS isn't the right coach but maybe the problems go deeper then the coaches. Maybe BYU is losing because even LDS kids don't want to live by the honor code. And no I'm not talking about living the word of wisdom. It's all the other parts of the honor code. Especially when like you've nicely pointed out they can play at Utah, USU, and even a school like Virginia. All those schools an LDS kid can get the support to live a good LDS lifestyle all without having to deal with the honor code.

The recruiting starts when a lot of these kids are in 9th grade. That's 4 years of creating a connection with a player. Most of the kids KS staff has recruited are still on missions. These aren't his recruits.



Do I think KS can turn this around. No I don't! Not unless he makes some very difficult management decisions revolving around the defensive coaches. Specifically his best friend at the head of the defense. I really believe KS needs to take the defense over for the rest of the year. He needs to call a defense like he did at Utah. No BYU doesn't have the athletic corners that Utah did but 4 of the 6 remaining teams on the schedule don't have the athletes Washington, Cal, and yes even USU has.

Another thought maybe it's time to let Ed Lamb take the defense over. In fact Ed Lamb should be the head coach. But that stupid unwritten rule about having to have a LDS coach with a temple recommend gets in the way of Ed getting the job. He was who I was hoping for 3 years ago and he's who I think should get it if KS is ever let go. He11 with the unwritten rules!

The temple recommend rule is stupid. Professors at BYU don't have to have temple recommends.



If you don't think Sitake can turn this around, why are you defending him? I don't think he can turn it around either, so why waste the time pretending or wishing he could/would.



He's not going to fire Tuiaki.

Right now, we rank 112 in the nation in sacks. Sitake has no control over this team. Does he want to pressure the QB like he said a few months ago or not? He said it was a goal and yet it isn't happening. We've blitzed, like what, 4 times all season.



I have zero confidence in Sitake to turn the program around and it sounds like you do too. If he proves us wrong, great!



For the record, I was optimistic of Sitake. Right now, he has a .500 record. Most of those wins come in his first season.
