Would Bronco have beat Wisconsin

If you are one of those, like me, who have become a mild UVa fan in the past three years, perhaps you had this same thought this past week:

could Bronco have led BYU to a win in Camp Randall?



My conclusion: I doubt it.



The biggest reason is that if Bronco were here then we’d still have Anae and Reynolds determining the character of the offensive line and playbook. I have a hard time believing that there would have been any combination of Bronco led teams over his tenure (with the possible exception of the 2006 offense and the 2009 defense) that would have performed as well as last week.



I hope we get to see more of this kind of play.

Agreed. We would have been focused and disciplined enough to start 2-0 and then been outmanned and lost to Wisc, also to Washington, maybe to Boise St, and then to Utah. We would be 8-4 this year with Bronco.

Would Bronco have beat UMass at home?

Anae would not have beaten Wisc.



Anae's go-fast-go-hard o-line would have gotten destroyed and his vanilla offense would have failed to move the ball.

First of all, the point is moot. Second of all, Bronco had a better chance at losing to Wisconsin than winning since he nearly always lost his 3rd game of the year. 3rd of all, Bronco is now 3-1 this year at Virginia and is doing well in his new job.

bYU generally played a good/great team week 3?

I've got nothing to back this up.

I very much liked Bronco. That said he would not have beat Wisconsin. Bronco was Business Like methodical, prepared and very un emotional. All games were treated the same.He very seldom had a weird loss and very seldom had a big win. It was a great recipe for winning 8-9 games and getting to a bowl every year but also part of the reason he had an abysmal record against the Utes.

Bronco did go to Dallas and won going toe-to-toe with #3 Oklahoma.



I think Bronco would have as much a chance to pull off the W as Kalani.

Bronco had a much better team vs Oklahoma in 2009 and we benefited from Bradford's injury.



Bronco was usually nothing if not predictable. He would have had the team consistent and disciplined enough to beat Arizona and Cal but he wasnt the type to go in and upset Wisconsin.

Tell that to OU's o-line and coaching staff. They had no idea how to handle the pressure he drew up that day.

you're forgetting just how that Oklahoma game went down, and you're also assuming that Bronco would have let the team get as bad as Kalani did.

Bronco beat an Oklahoma team that was ranked #3 in the country. There's no reason to believe he couldn't. Either way, BYU beat both, and that's a good thing.
