It's back! Three games under the belt for all three opponents means that we more than one other game to compare how BYU is playing against the competition.



As always, the numbers given are how BYU performed in their game against the opponent compared to the opponent's averages, with the BYU game removed from the calculation.



Arizona

What would be awesome and might help a bit for interpretation may be to put the stats in context by adding the opponent's record and score of previous games, and that opponent's current record. For example



Arizona (1-2) : L 28-23 v BYU(2-1); L 45-18 @ HOU(2-1); W 62-31 v SUU(0-3)

...





California (3-0) : W 24-17 v UNC(0-2); W 21-18 @ BYU(2-1); W 45-23 v IDST(1-1)

...





Wisconsin (2-1) : W 34-3 v WKU(0-3); W 45-14 v UNM(2-1); L 24-21 v BYU(2-1)







Seeing this, I'm still not sure what kind of a team Cal is. They barely beat BYU, but also beat two bad teams--which is why they're not ranked.



With this context, I would cut our offense a bit of slack in the Arizona game because Houston would inflate Arizona's defense-allowed numbers, except that I wonder how Arizona let SUU hang 33 on them. So, BYU's offense is still a bit suspect.



Wisconsin's WKU win tells us nothing, and beating UNM doesn't tell us much. Not surprising, our marks versus opponent averages are best against WSC because they've played the weakest competition so far.
