BYU tops in P5 wins by non-P5 team over the past 15 years

BYU has 25 wins over Power 5 teams since 2003, the most of any non-Power 5 team in that timespan. With the victory, the Cougars broke a tie with Navy (24).



The Cougars also snapped Wisconsin’s 41-game non-conference home winning streak. It was the fifth-longest in the modern era (since 1946).

I would hope so. With independence, we're also playing more Power 5 teams than any other non-Power 5 team that's any good other than Navy.

Well, playing them doesn't mean you win them. So it is a heck of an achievement.

Didn't realize it has been THAT long since beating a top 10 on the road as a true road game. Basically my kids haven't seen that accomplishment in their lifetimes!

How many times in the past 34 years have we played a true away game against a Top 10 team?

I believe BYU has 15 P5 wins since independence. That's more than Boise and any other non-P5, although we easily have had more chances than any other non-P5 and Boise and Houston have better winning percentages against P5 in the last 8 years.



BYU is 15-23 versus P5 since independence, a 39.5% winning percentage. Before we sulk too much, that winning percentage is better than 99% of non-P5 schools (other than Boise and Houston) and many P5 schools, including Cal and Washington St., and a bunch of others, like Syracuse, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Illinois, Kansas, etc.



The Utah losing streak has really hurt BYU's P5 winning percentage.

And most of those games were top 40 teams. Very few cream puffs in the bunch.



Time for TH to renegotiate the ESPN contract.
