BYU vs Wisconsin game thread

Here goes nothing....

Defense looking sharp. There was actually a stunt.



Nevermind. We gave a long play on 3rd down.

Apparently the plan is to jet sweep all day.



We should probably not do that on 3rd and 8 again ... That was a bad playcall.



I'd like to see some throws, wr screens, hb screens etc. We can't play smash mouth with these guys. Misdirection all day, just not a jet sweep every other play.

I'm already tired of the jet sweep. Every other play is a jet sweep.



We scored, though. Didn't see that happening in the 1st quarter.

I'll take 7-7 after one quarter! Do you think the repeated jet sweep is to set up other plays or because we think we can't run up the middle?

It is. It is trying to keep them wide, but it doesn't need to be every other play. To his credit, Grimes dialed it back a bit since that first series and is going with other types of misdirection. (Playaction, outside-in runs, etc).



That double throw TD was a thing of beauty! Who could have guessed we could catch it twice in one play!

What! A successful trick play? No way. I thought just other teams did those.

If they are going to call that PI we better see the same calls for us.

Are these Big Ten refs?

Offense back on the field. Wow! We get some points here and it's a whole different game.

I swear we have the best 1st and 2nd down defense in the country. I would love to see stats for yardage our opponents get on 1st and 2nd down compared to 3rd down.



Teams should just take a knee every drive until 3rd down

It's why I'm wondering what conference this crew is from.

Tie score just before half time. This is better than I hoped. I hope they keep playing solid in the 2nd half though I would expect something to give over the course of the whole game.

I'll take a 7-7 tie after 1, and 14 all tie at half!



Good job boys! The defensive scheme of going bigger seems to be working, but we'll see what happens after they adjust at half. I'm happy so far. Also, Wisconsin might be in trouble with their defense this year.

14-14 tie at half is better than I could've hoped for. Where was this team last week? My guess is there was a huge difference in the quality of practices this week vs before Cal.



Still, it's frustrating how close we came to being up 21-7
