One of the regionals is in SLC. What are the chances that BYU gets put in that bracket? That would be awesome.

I don't think we know yet who has the Sunday brackets yet do we?



I'd be shocked if ever a thing happened. That is reserved for the folks that have connections.

as of right now Joe Lunardi from Bracketology at ESPN,has us as a 4 seed playing in the Houston Regional and not in SLC,but he also has us at 14-2???[as of 1/11/10],and playing Texas Tech as a 14 seed/Big Sky[whatever that means] starting in Spokane and then moving onto Houston if we were to beat Texas Tech,and then the winner of the mythical Tulsa vs. UNC game.last week he had us in the bracket that potentially moved on to SLC, but not now.Perhaps that speaks to the issue of Sunday play with the move, but i'm not sure that has even been decided yet by the NCAA.

Several problems with the current Bracketology: Joe Lunardi says we are 14-2 (currently 17-1), we play Texas Tech/Big Sky (he has Texas Tech as one of his first 4 out), and we play in Spokane which is a Friday/Sunday venue (and we know that won't happen). I do like the idea of a #4 seed and moving on up. Go Cougars!

I actually put in for tickets for what I originally thought was a Thursday/Saturday venue in Spokane only to be informed by the NCAA via e-mail over the summer that there was a schedule conflict with one of the other venues and that they were switching the Spokane venue to a Friday/Sunday venue. You can find tournament info. with regards to sites and dates at NCAA.com

New Orleans, LA, Providence RI, Oklahoma City OK, and San Jose CA are the Thursday/Saturday sites.

Spokane WA, Buffalo NY, Jacksonville FL, and Milwaukee WI are the Friday/Sunday sites.



Salt Lake City UT (West Regional) and Syracuse NY (East Regional) and Thursday/Saturday sites.

Houston TX (South Regional) and St Louis MO (Midwest Regional) are Friday/Sunday sites.



Indianapolis, IN is the Final Four site, and is of course scheduled for Saturday/Monday.





BYU's biggest homecourt advantage would likely be San Jose, as it's closest (and NorCal church membership is probably the largest of the four sites...)

Being completely selfish, however, I'd be able to watch the games if they were in Rhode Island and Syracuse...

An 8 hour drive from DC is doable, but don't think 18-20 hours to Louisiana or Oklahoma is...

Was awesome only driving 3 hours to Philly last year (except of course for the result). The previous time was a LONG drive to Lexington (funny, though, the result there wasn't much better).

So based on the schedule, BYUs only options are to be a 1,16,8, or 9 seed and play in Providence/SLC or be a 6,11,3 or 14 seed and play in NewOrleans/Syracuse. No chance for BYU to be a 2,4,5,7,10,12,13, or 15 seed.



Only 2 Thurs/Sat sessions feed into Thurs/Sat regionals while 6 Fri/Sun sessions do. Way to go NCAA...someone was thinking. :skeptic:

I personally think it 's an utter joke that BYU's seeding is limited based on the no-Sunday play. EVERY seed should be available to us. There are four of each seeds. There should be two #1 seeds, two #2 seeds, etc that play the Thru/Sat format and feed into Thur/Sat formats as well. It's discriminatory to prevent us from receiving what we've earned.

I remember this discussing going on last year and I had made the comment that it looked like we were shut out of certain seeding positions and someone said that it wasn't true and that the seedings can change location and are not yet set. I'd like someone who knew positively knew the answer to let us all know. I agree, if we were to be shut our of that many seeding options, we'd be in a bad position and you would think that something could be done.

Half the tournament is on Th-Sat, and the other half is on Fr-Sun. Each half has all of the seeds represented. We can be seeded at any position and be on a Th-Sat schedule.

I did not read through the whole thread but I am sure the NCAA was smart enough to know that if they want butts in seats in SLC they better make it a Thurs/Sat venue.

This is not the case. That is only the case on the first weekend. Some of the TH-SAT games switch to a FRI-SUN the following weekend. UNC did this last year. Their first two games were TH-SAT but next two rounds were FRI-SUN. Pittsburgh similarly switched from a FRI-SUN format the first two rounds to a TH-SAT format. This is where BYU is limited. They could not have been placed in either because there was no TH-SAT only format.
