California 2018 Preview

Game 2 at home.

They beat North Carolina yesterday at home. Says they return a lot of starters from last year except for the front 7 of their D. We'll need to be able to run well again.

Good passing team. Arizona was not. That scares me.

Dang, we're favored by 2.5. I really love being the underdog where everything is basically up.

We don't know which QB will start. Also their best defensive player who had a pick 6 is out for the game.

Just listened to the Trevor Matich interview on BYU sports nation and from what he said, I now think that BYU will win this game and win it going away. They beat NC by a TD. NC had 4 turnovers including a pick 6 which was the margin of victory. He said that they didn't run the ball well and went through 3 QB's and none of them threw the ball well. He also pointed out that their defensive front 7 is very inexperienced and thinks if BYU's Oline is as physical as it was in the AZ game, we dominate them up front. I guess we will see but that made me feel really good about it. Hope the guys are still hungry and didn't get big heads after winning last Saturday.

This is good news.



On the question of being hungry, I think the coaches and captains will be able to spin an effective story about proving in front of their own fans that they're legit and are burying the misery of that 4-9 season. I don't think they'll have any trouble getting up to redeem themselves for the home crowd.

LB, hurt in practice.

He got hurt late in their game.

I have more confidence that I thought I would have now that we returned back to the type of team that we had normally been. We need this game because the 4 of the next 5 are going to be fairly tough to rather difficult.

They pick us to win.

I'm more worried about the Cal game than I was about the Arizona game.

After having watched the AZ game, I'm more confident now than I was this time last week.

I can see things going to our head, so this game makes me nervous. We seemed to treat beating an overrated Arizona by a TD as a major upset, but that's where our program is right now.



Plus, given the Pac's dismissal performance last week, Cal will be looking to make a statement against us.



I'm worried about this game.

I watched the CAL vs NC game and neither one of those teams looked very good to me. I can't say how much CAL may improve after a 1st game but they didn't look good offensively at all. Their defense looked good but NC's offense was horrible so I can't really tell how good their defense really is. Anyway, I hope they come out hungry and focused because this game is a winnable game, especially at home. If our Oline looks like it did last week, we should be able to win this game pretty easily.

Here is a thought I just noticed: there are 3 games kicking off AFTER the BYU-Cal game.
