Players end of season interviews with Rose reportedly got heated

Criddle said on his show the other day that several players end of season interview with Dave Rose were quite interesting. Players told Rose that he has not been engaged the last few years and that without significant changes in his level of involvement there would be some major consequences.

We've sort of seen this. The intensity he had early on at BYU isn't there. Post cancer and Jimmer, it has not been the same Rose.

So Rose got to retire AND still get paid! Pretty sweet deal huh?

P.S. How the hell would Criddle know?

Criddle may be pretty close with some of the current players. There are a lot of connections.



2017-18 was described as Rose's nearly complete year off, where everything except being the Mormon was delegated to Schroyer.

Schroyer was pretty much doing everything. Sideline plays. Huddle plays. Everything.



We have a talented group of players. They need an equally talented coach. If BYU can get a guaranteed better coach than Rose, I have no issue with that.

But all of those wins. Coach can do whatever he wants!!

If anyone on this board can name a guaranteed better coach than coach Rose that meets BYU's self imposed Head Coach standards, I would agree that it may be time to move on. Of course that would also depend on whether this guaranteed HC who meets BYU self imposed HC standards would want to come coach at BYU with BYU's self imposed honor code and education requirement standards for player admittance.

I want a guarantee that Rose is going to right the ship and make the NCAA tournament next season. That's the guarantee that I want. Was there a guarantee that Rose was going to be better than Cleveland when he took over? What was Rose's resume at that point when he took over? Sometimes a change in direction/leadership is needed. It doesn't mean that Rose is a bad person and hasn't done good things.



No change is guaranteed to be bettor or worse, but here are some potential names that I've seen (I'm not advocating for any one of these):



Mark Pope - Utah Valley coach

Jon Judkins - Dixie State coach

Barret Peery - Portland State coach

Alex Jensen - Utah Jazz assistant

Mark Madsen - LA Lakers assistant

Spencer Nelson - Utah State assistant

Tim LaComb - BYU assistant

Quincy Lewis - BYU assistant



In my mind if we were to bring in a new coach and he were to "only" get 19 wins next season, then he has done no worse than Rose the past 3 seasons

Well, according to the players, Dave Rose hasn't been the head coach at BYU for 3 years.

Dave rose won a National championship at Dixie state before coming to BYU with Cleveland as an assistant. What Players Hawk? How many of them have been here for 3 years? How many of them know what he was like during the Jimmer days and can make a proper assessment on how involved he is now vs then? These kind of unsubstantiated statements are ridiculous.
