Two players who redshirted in 2017 poised to breakout

Supposedly the defense asked to remove the redshirt from Katoa in the middle of the year. Which is more important, saving a year of eligibility or getting the best players on the field?



I would had played him if he could have helped us win some more games. It makes the season look better which helps recruiting. Maybe he could had gotten us to a bowl which is important. Plus he would be a better player this year.



You do lose a year but being a RM if he has NFL potential he needs to move on and might not play that last year. Seeing that he was fresh off a mission, there is a chance for injury to also consider.



I would rather win games not then later.

Even if Katoa would have been a better running back, which games would he have helped us win to get to bowl eligibility? We needed two wins down the stretch - Fresno St. and UMass - to get to a bowl.



May be he helps us beat UMass - wouldn't have hurt.



Canada averaged 7 yards per carry against Fresno St., so I doubt Katoa would have made a huge difference there.



So, we'd still have been 1 win short. If Katoa will be that good, I'm glad they kept the redshirt.

We don't know when coach was asked the question. East Carolina was Oct. 21. We lost by 16 in that one. Our offense struggled in that one. Miss St probably would not have made a difference.
