Wow. Jimmer is dressing out for AFA, and is a GTD.

Intense. Sorry no link, I'm on my cell and can't copy. Check GW's blog. He says he'll have more info on the pregame radio show. I'll be listening.

L-Mo is also getting the starting nod over M-Lo, as Lamont is recovered from the concussion.

I can't say I am thrilled 'bout Jimmer going what many people opine is too hard too fast, but I like the kid's toughness. I could, however, see (and agree with) Rose doing this to really ease him back into things, to keep a physical AND mental edge, as well as trying to keep the team chemistry stable. Does't hurt that our opponents will now have to gameplan for Jimmer specifically too.

Should be interesting!

If he goes tonight, and I hope he doesn't, I can't imagine him getting more than 5 minutes total PT. I do like the idea of having him dress but not play just to keep his and everyone else's mind in it, but from my own experience with mono, I would say just stay home, sleep 12 hours a night, eat lots of chicken soup, and don't push it.

the thing about mono is that it is incredibly idiosyncratic, that is his symptoms are very individual and therefore may be different from all of us who've experienced this disease.in other words some individuals have ,as most of you know without me telling you,a very mild course and others are really devastated by their illness for quite awhile.that said, the thing most people share in common,as has been pointed out already,is that if rushed back into high level competition there is a universally high likelihood of relapse.Hopefully he doesn't push himself too quickly to get back, but i think Coach Rose and the trainers won't let that happen.

Wow...people do react differently to mono. My wife when she had it said she was out for months. My roommate got it and he was laid up for about two weeks.

I got it when I was a teen (unfortunately not from the way most of us would like to get it! :~( ) and I missed a couple days of school and was back to normal activities. I did miss a couple extra practices too but that was just to prevent spreading it. It was like a severe cold (except we went to a doctor and he diagnosed it), but it lasted less than a week. It's nice when you are young and invulnerable :D. And man did the coach rub it in in front of the whole team! But it was alright because he rubbed it in as if I had gotten it the "good way" ;) . Adds to the rep.

It probably won't matter because Air Force is misssing half their team to injury; but the fact that Jimmer is responding well to what I expect is a strict schedule by the trainers and physicians is good news.

(For professional reasons, I'm curious if they used acyclovir and how long they intend to use it if they are.... ) http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/extract/343/7/481

Our worst fears would be that he wouldn't be ready for the upcoming road games vs. UNM and SDSU, and throwing him cold turkey against those teams wouldn't be much better, so this has to been seen as good news; the fact that the reserves got to show their colors and JT has found his stroke is great news.

If we manage to get through this illness as a better team, with JT staying the course with his current play, and Jimmer gets healthy for our big games then I'd like to kiss the girl that gave him the mono.... well.....maybe not.

Put him in to start the game, for about three minutes, then put him in late in the game, if it's close, so he can take care of the ball and make free throws.

I think I'd rather have Miles shooting free throws than a rusty, worn out Fredette. His free throw mechanics are so automatic that any little variation could throw his shot off a lot.

Jimmer is just awesome, go JF!

that 49p outing vs AZ was sweet, and it sounds like health wise he has been in hell the past 2 weeks.

Jimmer just played 9 minutes of solid playing time! Look out conference Jimmer is back!

So 18 minutes total. He wasn't in high gear, which is expected, but you could tell he wanted to be out there. By the end he looked like he was ready to sit. Coach Rose made a really good point. Doesn't matter as much what we saw tonight. It DEFINITELY matters what they'll see tomorrow and Friday from him. If his recovery is slow, I hope they'll give him more time to rest, less time on the court on Saturday.

That said, great to see him on the court tonight. Good productive game for him.
