SMC today

Any predictions? I'm going to say BYU wins this one. It seems with Haws clicking a little better, Bryant and Yeoli doing their thing, HArdnett playing well, Dastrup and Worthington learning their roles, this team has a great shot at beating SMC tonight. BYU by 5.

BYU loses by 12.

No clue but it's big. A win would put us on the tournament bubble.

Our next four games make our season. We could easily go 1-3 over these next 4 games. If we go 2-2 the NIT is our ceiling. If we go 4-0 we can start thinking about an at large NCAA bid. It's crazy that we have a better record in Spokane than we do in Moraga. But based on history this is our toughest game of the year. We can win, but I'm thinking our chances of winning are less than 25%

A win here makes up for the loss at home.

We didn't have Nixon last time and Haws wasn't playing as well. I think we have a shot, but beating them at their place will still be hard.

I think at least to a point, the more Worthington and Dastrup play the better chance we have of beating them.

SMC, especially at Moraga is our kryptonite.



We can certainly win this game. We were a few free throws and a botched overtime away from beating them. I think our chances are better than in the past.

BYU will have to play its best game of the year to win this one. All of that talent mentioned above will have to play well and we will have to put in a really good defensive effort as well. It can be done but unfortunately we have never seen a BYU team rise to the occasion since the Jimmer SR year and probably won't again tonight. I will be watching and cheering them on though.

Defense

BYU is playing pretty well but not well enough. Childs, Bryant need to meet their averages and TJ and Selias, and hardnett need to step up their scoring. Worthington and Nixon need to keep playing good defense on St. Mary's bigs without getting into too much foul trouble and a few points from them wouldn't hurt either.

I wouldn't mind seeing some 3's out of Dastrup as well since that would pull St. Mary's big out from under the basket when he is in the game.

Bryant didn't get enough touches that half. Being down 3 is a small vicotry.

It's like a broken record. St. Mary's drive and kick has killed us since our first year in the WCC. I don't understand why we haven't been able to figure out how to stop it.

One thing that has pissed me off about the WCC from day one is how badly they protect the conference leaders with the refereeing. BYU is driving to the basket and getting hammered and no call, while ticky tack calls are going against them on the other side all game long. This is ridiculous.

We have had our shots tonight. They just have not fallen. St. Mary’s offense was very impressive. Their defense not so much.

Agree with you there. Landale got away with multiple fouls with the body that the refs did not call.

And Childs got called for offensive for doing the same thing on the other end.

BYU needed a perfect game, didn't get it.
