The kid passed on pro $$$ to come back to BYU for his senior year. Then he gave up his starting spot to an underclassman because he felt burned out after playing international ball all summer and thought he would better help the team coming off of the bench while he got his college groove back. And BYU hasn't lost since, have their longest win streak in 17 years, and have their highest ranked in 22 years. And now that Jimmer is slowed down with mono, he has been bigger than ever.
-"Tavernari has averaged 17 points and 7.3 rebounds a game since Fredette became ill, while still coming off the bench. In the 14 previous games, he was averaging 8.9 points and 4.4 rebounds... [He] averaged almost 16 points a game while earning all-MWC third-team honors last year."
-Tavernari has gone 18-for-30 in his last four games, 17-28 in his last 3 games.
