Why don't programs like UT and USC see what the rest of the country sees in Lane Kiffin?



If the NCAA wasn't already pissed at USC, they then go get the guy that flipped them the bird all year long...



Kiffin is a baffoon and this signals the end of USC as a perrenial top 5 team.

They caught lightning in a bottle back then... I dont' see it happening again while they're under the microscope of the NCAA. They certainly have some name coaches, but so did Notre Dame and Tennessee....



The crazy thing is how Kiffin thumbed his nose at the NCAA this year and then goes to the place where the NCAA is preparing for February 19th sanctions/hearing.



They should have just given the job to Chow and asked him to clean house; rather than bring in a vigilante lawbreaker that will only exacerbate the situation for USC and their sinking program.



btw - Kiffin named his son "Knox" (for Knoxville) last year and is now rumored to be living in a hotel with his girlfriend.... this is not a smart man



He reminds me a great deal of Quin Snyder of Missouri, who came in with all the hype and lost everything in the process of losing his wife, family, and hoops program, while snorting enough nose candy to make Lawrence Taylor proud.

Bingo!!!!! Bam!! This is one of the WORST coaching hire decisions I have ever seen!!!! He's a disaster @ Raider Nation - getting fired in a rough way. At Tennessee he steps on his meat consistently!!! Jeesh!!!!

I was in the car when I heard the news, this is CRAZY, I literally laughed out loud for 30 seconds when I heard Kiffin was coming back to USC! It wasn't until later that I heard Chow, Kiffin Sr, et al were headed to USC too. I am still floored by this. USC has officially jumped from the frying pan. I have absolutely zero clue why Chow would take that offer, none, what does he possibly stand to gain from this?

Actually, I agree with you that Chow would have been a better choice as HC. He could have weathered the pending storm at USC better than Kiffan.



As for Kiffan's time at Oakland, Iput alot of the blame on the owner. Al Davis is a disgrace to the NFL now. How many coaches has he fired in the past 5 seasons?



As for Tennessee, it's if you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin' SEC.



As for his personal life. He's an idiot. Garrett is a moron too. The only good coach he's hired in his career as AD at USC has been Carroll. I am surprised they've supported him as long as they have.



Yet, I am guardedly optimistic that Kiffan will straighten up and get his act together and keep USC competing at a high level. If he doesn't, then the next coach will, whoever that may be. ;)

The latest I read izzzz: Norm Chow has not yet agreed to return to USC. This coming year he will earn $690,000 @ UCLA - with a $250,000 bonus on April 1, 2010.



Norm's people are saying - "it will take NFL type money to bring Norm back to USC." to me - that means a $1,000,000 per year contract to budge the big man.



Stay tuned. As for Kiffin ..... Lordy - Lordy!!!!! Who'd a thunk it!

1- I was always a Pete Carroll fan. As such, USC has been my 3rd favorite college football program over the last 8 years.

And that's BEFORE you start discussing his terrible attitude, his dislikable personality, and how he makes every other coach in the nation want to run the score up on him and punch him in the face afterwards. And the NCAA can't like the guy either- He is simply returning the the scene of a major past crime (Reggie Bush). The USC AD is really tempting fate here: We may very well see USC get the death penalty yet...

The Hostess thing is pretty prevalent in the SEC and Big 12.

Don't forget another downside to all of this..... when Notre Dame starts beating USC in the next couple of years, all the media will jump on that bandwagon and gush about how great ND is and that they are finally back in the national football picture! :sick:

Just like having a perceived outside enemy is good for oppressive regimes, I think a good Notre Dame is good for college football. I live and work with lots of Notre Dame alums, and I can tell you this much--gushing Notre Dame fans are much more pleasant than gushing Michigan, Ohio State, or Wisconsin fans. They're the unbearable ones. Which would you rather deal with--gloating Air Force fans or gloating Utah or Wyoming fans?

Not sure how you can love Pete Carrol but hate Lane Kiffin because he's a cheater that runs programs into the ground. Why do you think Petey left USC?
