Fire everyone involved in BYU football this year.

Not one coach, trainer or administrator should return to have anything to do with the football team next year. You can not allow the worst team in 68 years.

If in fact it is true that Bronco was forced out by boosters etc. then Holmoe is the one who needs to go for caving in to the ignorant and not standing up for what was best for the program. This debacle starts at the desk of Tom Holmoe. It is not his debacle alone. The coaching, the training, the play calling, the effort—it all went into a catastrophe of a season. But it starts with HIM. Holmoe had the integrity to resign after coaching Cal Berkeley to a 1-10 season. He knew it would take someone else to fix that program. The same is true here. We need a new AD with authority to clear the deck of incompetence and hold all to accountability for their coaching picks and decisions and performance. Mr. Holmoe. Resign!

Not that I disagree. Someone should pay for this debacle today. For the first time I have started to deep down believe that Ty is also not the guy. I already felt that about Tuiaki. And Cahoon.

Holmoe wanted Bronco gone as much as the big boosters. He had been actively working to sabotage the staff for years. Time for him to go.

Holmoe needs to go.

I think TH should be in jeopardy more for his murderers row scheduling than for his belief that Kalani could get it done.

I also think that Bronco looked ahead and saw schedules that far exceeded his mantra of "Heading into the wind". It was more like heading into the maelstrom and hurricane of 2016,17, and 18.

His relationship with boosters was always suspect. He didnt need the fans totally turning on him as well and so he, unlike LaVel, cashed in to take his disciplined approach where it would be appreciated again.

We, all--admin, fans, donors, all took him for granted. And now we have more of a mess than if he was still here, but he would have been run out of town just like Kalani will be next year. Impossible schedule!!!! Cant stress that enough. And BYU is freakin stuck. Jammed, under contract. Its absolutely the Perfect time for P5 schools to play BYU, the busted, demoralized, depleted by injury and bailed recruits, EASY WIN! No way they let BYU out of a few contracts unless its a trip to Provo and some cash. PERFECT STORM. Aint gonna get batter next year.

So, to those who think a drastic change is needed now: are you quietly hoping that the coaching staff fumbles its way to the first-ever 10 loss season in program history?

Quietly hoping? Nope. But I'll flat out state that I don't think BYU will beat Hawaii. I don't think we'll be competitive.I fully expect us to be down by 4 TDs at the half next week. I think we'll see uninspired play from the players and zero preparation by the coaches. I wouldn't even be surprised to hear reports of players missing the game.

But this staff was never supposed to be able to coach! They were supposed to be A+ recruiters who would bring in loads of 4 star athletes who would just figure out how to play by themselves!

BYU should have had 8-10 wins this year. And if BYU wins 8-10 kalani's seat isn't on fire right now. This year was simply not putting the time in to be competitive OR it was a case of coaches being WAY over their heads.

First, I suspect Bronco was simply ready to move on from BYU and Holmoe's ambitious scheduling helped him decide that. I said "I suspect" because I obviously don't know. And, frankly, I don't think those who've been claiming that he was run off by Holmoe, the boosters, or whoever know either. But as I've said before, even if Kalani doesn't work out, it doesn't mean I want Bronco back.



Second, while BYU definitely should have had more wins this year (underperforming to the point nobody thought possible), there may be something to the idea of Holmoe overscheduling. At least as long as BYU football is operating on an insufficient budget.

It should be helpful to look at this game as an isolated, one week end event, rather than as a capstone to an already disastrous season.



Some salient points:



-The opponent was greatly improved this season, and presented a real challenge.



-A walk on freshman, third string QB missed some throws, or missed some reads.



-The same young QB made some beautiful throws that were dropped—any one of which could have won the game if caught—reference, the freshman tight end.



-Catchable throws in or near the end zone were disrupted by PI that went uncalled. Not once, not twice, but multiple times.



-Holding calls, back to back, killing a drive just after a big pass completion of approx 35 yards.



-A cheat of a ball spot after a pass play that needed 27 yards, produced, yes, 27 yards. This on 4th down just after the back to back holding penalties.



-Large imbalance in yards penalized for each team.



-BYU significantly out plays opponent in second half, but suffers PI no-calls and holding calls as above.



Conclusion: Young BYU team suffers from external and internal adversities, and loses a close game against a fairly good opponent. Outcome of this game does not portend the power level or effectiveness of future BYU teams.



I am as disappointed here as anyone, but I think we should not be picking up torches and pitchforks just yet.

Which is another reason they should be fired. The "master recruiter" hasn't improved on Bronco's recruiting at all.

Every reason you have mentioned here as an excuse for the loss is something that good coaching eliminates with the exception of the PI non calls which IMO could have gone either way and the refs decided not to call them. That usually happens when a team is bringing the physicality to another team, the refs just accept it as part of the game. UMASS out physicaled BYU all day which is completely unacceptable.

If you had seen the way the team reacted to Saturday's loss you would want EVERYONE gone. I promise. I care about the success of several of these coaches on a personal level, but the postgame attitude made it clear- this is NOT working and things are very unlikely to change.

If there are no changes to this staff in the off season, then the AD needs to be fired after the disaster that will be next year. Even if we don't get rid of the entire staff, changes need to be made with some of the staff in order to at least try to get better.
