Does changing mid season ever make things better? Might satisfy some fans or donors, but what a disruption!

Couldn't make us worse.

Bronco made changes mid-season one year and it made a huge difference. I think that is easier to do on defense. However, the offense can't get worse, so what difference does it make?

Ty needs to change up some position coaches at the very least.

In the vein of the BYUtv postgame show, Sitake needs to stop playing the part of Lavell and start coaching. He needs to inspire his team. His coaches are failing and he has to do something about it. He hasn't built the infrastructure yet to be able to be a mature Lavell Edwards yet.

All of the coaches are failing at every level. This is a bad team.

So, which coaches would you change right now? No changes and probably no bowl game, maybe only another 2 wins I the year. Change, and who knows? The team has some good talent...

This team isn't going bowling. Even if we won the rest of our games. Not even Crowton descended so badly. The only reason Sitake is still around is because of nostalgia. Honestly, if it was anyone other than Ty Detmer as OC would they still have a job?

I think at a minimum Sitake should ask Detmer to head up to the box. It's worth a try to get him a different persepctive. Perhaps communicating with his QBs simply via radio may actually assist in better conveying what he is seeing and wants them to see.



Something has to change because we're going to see a coaching change before Thanksgiving.

You can't change coaches until after the season.

BYU's basic problem is an inexperienced and incompetent coaching staff that was hired by the current AD.

Do you want the current AD to make decisions about retaining the current staff or who to hire as their replacements? What quality of coaches are you going to get in the middle of the season? For example, the DC of Stanford is not going to bolt in mid-season to become HC at BYU. Would he be able to get quality assistants to bolt in the middle of the season? No.

What BYU could do is start looking for a new AD right now. Hire him before the end of this football season and then you'd have a new AD in position to hire a competent new head coach as soon as the current season is over. As a part of the hiring process, the new AD could also get commitments from the Trustees to dramatically increase assistant coaches salaries.

It's called an interim coach.....

I'm not on the new AD route yet. Not even close.

They should bring in the “best qb coach in the country.” :-)

Those are the options if a coaching change happens mid season. It happens all the time around the country.

I agree that we shouldn't do any coaching changes during the season. But, if we're talking realistically, Sitake has at least 3 seasons (not counting last year) to make it work. They gave Crowton that amount of time and that was with all the player scandals.



I'm beginning to sour on Holmoe myself. He struck out with the P5 invite. And he's scheduling like we are a P5 team on a G5 budget. Like I said in another thread, they were talking on the radio the other day how BYU coordinators and position coaches pay (besides Detmer) would be the middle of the pack in the Mountain West. That is pathetic. Who's job is it to convince the BoT to pony up more money if not Tom friggin' Holmoe.



As for Lance Anderson, did he ever even express interest in the HC job? And who do we get as AD?

Just because Sitake will get three seasons doesn't mean his position coaches or coordinators should.



I'd get rid of Mahe, Cahoon and possibly Kaufusi. Their groups are really struggling. Empey would be getting a real long look as well.
