Is Utah State a must win?

Answer the poll, is Utah State a must win game? Why or why not?



If it is, what are the repercussions of losing this game?



If it isn't, and BYU loses what then becomes a must win? What is the outlook on the season?

Yes. A loss will hurt BYU and benefit USU with in-state recruits. Fan interest, attendance, revenue, and ratings will tank. Beat USU and then Boise St. and there is renewed life for this season. Lose to USU and continue on a 4-game losing streak and bowl eligibility becomes a major question mark.

It's a must win because if they can't beat a bad USU team, who will they beat? Everyone's (in the media) excuse for this team so far has been that they are playing tough ranked teams. Well, now we get a "patsy".

Yes, because of the reasons already mentioned and because beating USU will always be symbolic. This one will be closer than desired, and may require a Riley kind of heroics, but I think BYU gets up for it and pulls it off.



No, because I think enough injuries provide a narrative for a legitimate failed season (thinking of MLP and Tanner and the pro offense midseason overhauling)

I don't think that Moroni LP would have made one Iota's difference in the outcomes of the first 4 games because he is just one receiver and if I am to believe what I have seen of him in the past, he is far from a game changer.

No, it's not a must win. This is a bad BYU team and the quicker everyone realizes it, the quicker the donors and fans will demand that BYU start to clean house.



But BYU will beat this bad USU team and give a ray of false hope for a couple more weeks.

This is not a must win for the team in general (by the typical definition of "must-win"). However it is a must perform for some of the coaching staff. If the offense looks terrible and has a meager output again, real changes should be made within the staff.

After the team and coaches took the bye week off from pretty much any organized football activity, they'd for dang sure better win.

Yep. We lose this game and Holmoe will have a tough time getting fans back in the seats.

Lose to Utah State and we're not winning more than 3 games this year.
