BYU's UNLV win just got better

UNLV just went into the Pit and got a win. They held New Mexico to 36% shooting, so it wasn't us. It was just great Rebel defense that held us so low. The difference we actually hit a few threes where UNM couldn't. Now BYU just has to find a way to hold serve at home and until Jimmer comes back. UNM is now in trouble as they've fallen to 0-2 in conference (with one of those losses coming at home).

New Mexico is not in trouble because they're 0-2 in conference play. They're in trouble because they lost at home. UNLV is a leg up on everyone because they have a huge road win.

Fixed it. There are two ways to really put your team behind the eight ball in conference play.

1) Lose at home

2) Lose to a bottom half team (Wyoming, CSU, Air Force, TCU, Utah)



The team that has the lowest number of those two reasons will win the conference.

You are correct! Great points. Last year UNLV had some ugly losses to Colorado State and TCU that really hurt them and they lost at home to San Diego State. BYU does really well at holding home court (UNLV last year aside) and then usually wins a road game or two against the tops of the league and I don't remember the last time the Cougs lost to a "bottom dwelling" MWC team home or away....
