Turf Question

The Rose Bowl turf was taken out and completely replaced for the BCS championship game. Six day turnaround, and I don't remember seeing any chunks ripping out, flying all over, or minions scurrying on the field during breaks to replace divots.



What have they did that we did not did, for our turf to have been so bad for so much of the year?

Real grass or artificial? Because BYU doesn't have turf...

It was real grass. Herbie made some stupid comment about Rye grass being slippery when there is dew on it for why an Alabama receiver slipped on a 3rd down incompletion.

The old stuff wasn't taken out--they cut the old stuff short, and rolled new turf on to top help it grip better (supposedly).

Whatever they did, it seemed to work.

I'm sure whatever they did, it involved more manpower, expertise and money than the BYU athletic Dept has access to.

That grass is used because it represent the market place. We don't employ the same methods because it doesn't represent our market place.

Also, the BcS is sponsoring toiletries and enema kits next year, to represent the marketplace.
