BYU #12 in both final polls

I was hoping we'd get 10th. Too bad both Oklahoma and Oregon State finished JUST outstide the top 25 rankings. Boise gets snuffed at #4, too bad for them.

A couple of things:



I'm just glad that they didn't bump the Gators to #2 since they got killed by the Tide (with Tebow) and Texas was still in the game until the last minute despite playing without Colt all game. At least the voters held the Gator love fest in check enough to get that right.



That said, I still don't think Florida belongs above BSU. And there's no way in hell a two loss OSU team belongs above a TCU team that barely lost to BSU. BSU beat a TCU team that I still believe belonged ib tonight's game. Where are all the people who always say that 'bowl wins don't mean anything' now that the Big Ten isn't on the losing side of things? Now they are pimping the conference's strength because of their bowl record this year. So despite losing at home to a USC team that was way down this year and falling to bowl-ineligible Purdue team, they should be ranked ahead of the Frogs. Yeah, that makes sense. I knew that by pitting BSU and TCU against each other in the Fiesta Bowl they would use it as a way to knock their records and rankings. What a crock. :angry:

I think so many of the media were pulling for TCU to pummel BSU and create controversy/argument that they were #1 that when they gave a lackluster showing in Glendale, the media punished them simply because of dashed expectations.

I'm a little disappointed that Oklahoma and Oregon St. couldn't sneak into the AP poll. It would have been nice for BYU to beat 3 teams that finished ranked for the first time ever.



So by the AP's own standards beating the #6 team and #11 team while going undefeated gets you a #4 ranking. However, beating the #8 team and the #17 team while getting crushed by the #1 team gets you a #3 ranking. Once again, it's great to be a Florida Gator. In fairness, the votes are REALLY close between Texas, Florida, and BSU.



USC goes 9-4 and their best win is over the #5 team in the country ON THE ROAD. LSU and Texas Tech go 9-4 and BEAT NOBODY yet finishes ranked 5 spots higher and 1 spot higher respectively than USC. Please.



The Pac-10 beat 3 teams that finished ranked in the top 25 in nonconference play. The Big 12 beat ZERO. The Pac-10 had 2 teams that finished ranked; the Big 12 had 3. If the Pac-10 is overrated what is the Big 12? Ah yes, the Big 12 did win 4 out of their 8 bowl games while the Pac-10 won only 2, but the Pac 10 played twice as many top 20 teams in the bowl games as the Big 12 did.



Oregon St. beat no teams ranked in the top 25, finished 8-5, and got 89 votes. Stanford beat two teams in the top 25, finished 8-5, and got 67 votes. Arizona beat two teams in the top 25, beat Oregon St. AND Stanford, and got 5 votes. Hmmmmm, OK.

There are 2 teams that don't belong in the top 10 team, utah is lucky to be ranked that high, and I still wish TCU thought about preparing for the game. The end.

I;d have put BYU at #11, Oregon #12. Otherwise, I have no issues with it. Only ranking that really matters is #1. The rest is window dressing.

I would have like to see TCU in the top 5. the FSU showing kept us out of the top 10. If the game was closer we could have done that.

being BYU kept us out of the top 10,just like being Boise kept BSU from being #2.

After the OSU game, we thought we would surge up the rankings because we annihilated a good PAC-10 team. Then everyone else annihilated the PAC-10 teams and took some of the luster off the Vegas Bowl victory.



Then TCU flopped on the big stage and took all the air out of the MWC's bowl dominance, which trickled all the way down.



Playing more than two weeks before the voting doesn't exactly help keep you fresh in voter's minds either.



I was expecting 11, 12 doesn't disappoint me.

It's too bad that BYU beat OSU like a ragdoll and bumped them out of the top 25.



Anyone else think that BYU hurt themselves (I still would take the beatdown though) by making OSU look like a high school team?

The cards just didn't fall in the right place for a top 10 finishe, but finishing at 12 is pretty good.



Also, Oklahoma and OSU were within a switched vote or two of being #25 in the AP poll. And they both finished within the top 30 of the Coaches' poll.



It was no wonder BSU finished behind Florida. Fla beat Cincy, which was ranked higher than TCU in the BCS poll before the bowl games and did so convincingly. Two non-AQ programs discounted themselves too. This was all the more reason for both BSU and TCU to play Cincy and Fla instead of each other.
