Word is that Zach Katoa is coming to the Y and is registered for classes.

Ben Criddle tweeted that James Empey is coming to the Y to play for his old man. Although the wording leaves some question as to Criddler's intent. Haven't heard anything specific beyond that.

These are 2 big time transfers. KS has gotten some really good talent to transfer in this year.

I saw a tweet that Hoge will have to sit out this year.

TRISTEN HOGE is a five star recruit who has graduated Notre Dame and is immediately eligible according

to a friend who is very close to all the Highland players. He had a redshirt year and is a brilliant student. Was a teammate of Wayne Kirby as well as current 5 star senior Tommy

Togia who has offers from everybody and is at an unprecedented level off the charts athletically. Heard he as was Kirby fed up with the partying lifestyle amongst his teamates

Hoge will not be a backup and can play tackle. Two years ago rated top center in the country coming out high school. Graduated Notre Dame in two years.

So cool. Does Hoge have 1 or 2 years to play?

Good article in deseret news listing Tristens ranking two years ago in 2015. Then he would have been probably the top rated lineman recruit BYU ever landed. His dad told my friend he had completed his bachelors and would be working on his masters at BYU. Highland had four d-1 offensive lineman and two 5 stars in 2015 with Togia Hoge and Kirby. Don't know if the hardship waver has been approved to allow Kirby to be eligible this year or not.

I had heard that as of now Hoge will have to sit out a year but that BYU and Hoge are appealing to get that waived, but I don't know under what circumstances that is.

In that he has finished his Bachelor's degree, and is coming to BYU to get his Master's.

Curious that he has to appeal that, isn't that automatic?

That is what is confusing me.

Apparently his dad may have had it wrong or my source misheard. It was reported by coach Empey that he had a semester to go on a clip in the Deseret news and they are applying for a waiver. Big deal to be playing with his cousin Beau. The possibility to entice blue chipper Togia really I suspect tripled.

Sounds like he had a redshirt year, used 1 year of eligibility, will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer, and have 3 years to play 3.

Has the waiver been successful then?

I heard he was just a few classes away from graduating. Maybe he can complete them this summer and then be eligible to play in the fall.
