The goals for BYU are:



1. To achieve the highest ranking possible

2. To be bowl eligible and play the best bowl team possible

3. To win as many games as possible

4. To be better than Utah



If you want to see these goals accomplished here is your rooting guide:



A. Cheer for BYU. Duh.



BYU (6-4) over Umass (2-8)



B. Cheer for the team playing Utah. Because there is no reason to cheer for Utah



Oregon over Utah



C. Hold your nose and cheer for the MWC in nonconference play. Also cheer for the better team in conference matchups. Root for Boise to go to Vegas. The stronger the conference the stronger our bowl opponent will be.



SDSU 9-1 over Wyoming 7-3. We want Boise St. to beat SDSU for the MWC title and go to Vegas. SDSU hopefully meets us in the Poinsettia nationally ranked.

BSU (9-1) over UNLV (4-6)

NM (7-3) over CSU (5-5)

AF (7-3) over SJSU (3-7)

USU (3-7) over Nevada (3-7)

Hawaii (4-7) over Fresno St (1-9)



D. Cheer for BYU’s opponents. This helps SOS which helps our overall ranking



AZ (2-8) over Oregon St (2-8)

UCLA (4-6) over USC (7-3)

WVA (8-1) over Oklahoma (8-2)

Toledo (8-2) over Ball St. (4-6)

Michigan St (3-7) over Ohio St (9-1)

Cincinnati (4-6) over Menphis (6-4)

Southern Utah (5-5) over NAU (5-5)



E. Cheer for teams playing teams ranked ahead of BYU. Cheer for unranked teams vs. ranked teams. If both teams are ranked ahead of BYU cheer for the higher ranked (Of course rules A-D trump rule E)



Chattanooga over #1 Alabama

Indiana over #3 Michigan

Wake Forest over #4 Clemson

#5 Louisville over Houston

ASU over #6 Washington

Purdue over #7 Wisconsin

Rutgers over#8 Penn St

#10 Colorado over # 22 Washington State

TCU over #11 Oklahoma St

Alabama A&M over #15 Auburn

#16 LSU over #23 Florida

Syracuse over #17 Florida St

Maryland over #18 Nebraska

Missouri over #19 Tennessee

#21 Western Michigan over Buffalo

Cal over #24 Stanford

UTSA over #25 Texas A&M

Arkansas St over #25 Troy (AP Poll)

Citadel over UNC (others receiving votes)

ND over Virginia Tech (others receiving votes)

That puts us a two point conversion away from having a better record than Utah and also having the head to head win. What a difference a successful conversion can make! Maybe next year....
