Here's how I project the final rankings to look (I reserve the right to modify them following the 'final' BCS game - I refuse to call it the championship game):

Do you think there is any chance in Hades that BYU manages to start in the top 25 next year? Will the media finally grant us the respect that they give programs like Texas and USC when we have shown that we can reload (like them) even when it looks like we have lost alot (look what we did after 2006)?



Do you think UW/FSU start off in the preseason rankings?



If you don't think we'll start the year ranked, do you think we'd be ranked after a win over UW?

I don't think that Cincy hangs out at #6 after the beating they took from Florida. They'll probably end up somewhere from 8-12.

And there's no way that Florida stays behind TCU with the beating they gave Cincy. I imagine something like this:

If Ala wins, I think FLA ends at number 2 with BSU at 3. Cincy probably around 9. TCU 7 or 8. Had TCU won, we may have made 10 but I really doubt it now. I think 11 or 12. But still a good showing for the MWC. The surprise is three top 10 teams from the big 10.

Florida will be #2. mark it down. BSU may get in the #3 spot if Texas lays an egg v. Bama, but only if. BCS bias matters here. Had BSU beat a BCS team in the Fiesta Bowl, would get more respect, like Utah did last year. And that is the honest truth.

You're absolutely right, but I don't think the rankings will reflect that.

This is one of the things that bothers to no end. The way I understand it the preseason polls should be a voter's best guess as to who what the rankings will be at the end of the season. When was the last time a the MWC DIDN'T have at least one team in the top 10-15 in the final poll and yet how often do you see a MWC team start the season ranked that high?

I don't believe Florida deserves to be ranked above BSU. I know the media will probably see things differently but BSU is still undefeated and beat two very good teams (I know the SOS is still lacking) but I would argue a great team in TCU. Meanwhile Florida got owned by Alabama. Unless Alabama destroys Texas, I just don't see them jumping the Broncos.



As for Cincy, again they did get owned but it was one game, and without the HC who lead them to an undefeated regular season. I think the voters will factor that into things. Even though I believe the Big East to be no better than the MWC, I still think Cincy did some amazing things this year and deserves to be ranked above any two loss team.



And again, TCU barely lost to BSU. Florida got pounded by the Tide. Both are one loss teams. If people are going to argue that the Fiesta Bowl was a good matchup for the non-AQs (better than if they had faced two AQ teams instead) then they can't go back and say that TCU lost to a BSU team with a weak SOS. Don't vote them as high as you did if you don't think they actually deserved the ranking. That's hypocritical and further points to flaws in the system.

No way is Oregon ahead of BYU. Oregon has 3 losses, and looked bad in the Rose Bowl game.

I dislike Florida so much I hope they drop out of the rankings (yeah right), but the media are so in love with them, they probably will be #2. I don't think Boise gets #2 (this is the BCS you know). Oregon and Georgia Tech don't deserve to be above BYU, they both stunk it up in their bowl game. This is such a beauty contest, it's frustrating to even try to deal with it.

Right. Which is why I think the media (most of which hate the BCS) will put BSU at #2. Like they put Utah #2 last year.



I don't think Oregon gets punished too badly for losing their bowl game. Like BYU, Oregon beat Utah and Oregon St. I think the voters will look at beating USC, Cal, and Arizona as a more impressive achievement than beating Oklahoma, Air Force, and Wyoming this year. Despite having 1 more loss than BYU, BYU has the most embarrassing loss between the two teams by far.
