Cahoon needs to be fired--AGAIN!

Short of Juergens all-world catch, our receivers suck eggs. Get a fricken jugs machine and drill em for an hour each, every day. This is pathetic.

I don't accept this notion. Kurtz is a basket case. His weak hands, poor timing on jumps, and poor decision making after catching the ball are only equaled in incompetence by Pututau. He's a head case as well. So much talent, such poor....I can't believe I'm going to say it....EXECUTION. That's discipline, focus, execution, and it all is developed or squandered in practice. WRs shave most consistently underperforming unit on this team and it is NOT about talent level.

I don't think BYU's talent level at receiver is any less than it has ever been. In fact I think our receivers are bigger and faster than they have been in years, but they are soft. They seem to want to avoid contact and don't fight for the 50/50 balls.

2015 had great size, experience and speed. this year is a moderate step down.

Once again there was about 5 passes that hit receivers in the hands that they didn't pull in--3 of them were Kurtz. He hasn't gotten better with more playing time this year. Its a struggle.

The lack of depth and experience at RB was also revealed when Jamaal couldn't go. Squally ran okay--but he hasn't had a full time load and there was a huge drop off from him to Alge when he had to come out for a rest.



Its a good time for a bye week to hopefully get some guys healthy and then grind out the final 4 games--which should be against easier competition than any of the first 8 games. Next year will be a different animal all together with some new personnel.

Yes, it will. We are on the verge of being a very good team. With more depth and more time in the system, I think this team will continue to improve. It is encouraging that the defense, though it had some let downs, totally kept us in the game. We had no business even being close based on how ineffective our passing game was.

Would that solve the problem or at least cut down on the problem? Are the receivers just practicing with everyone else? Do they need extra drills? Are the dbs good enough to toughen up the receivers and give them the practice they need?

Ben Cahoon is a huge problem for this team. He doesn't know how to coach, he wasn't wanted by any other institutions when he was let go last time and he didn't hone his coaching skills at all. Every single returning receiver has digressed since last year.

He had a chance at a catch because BSU batted it around and he kept his eye on it as he went to the ground. BUT WHY didn't he try for it in the air? He is a LOT taller, with more reach than the db's there ... he should have at least tried and not just jumped to look like he was trying.



That kind of epitomizes the receiver weakness I've seen this year.

How much do we miss Mitch Matthews?

Funny thing is, MM was a marshmallow when he first got here too. While you wouldn't have mistaken him for Austin Collie or KO or Maguire his Sr year, he was much more physical. Holladay did wonders with him. Now all the receivers are back to being marshmallows with maybe the exception of Jeurgens...sometimes.

Something I have been saying from the very beginning along with the O-line coach whose o-line is pathetic again. I also agree with the above statement about BYU's WRs by frbtr as he is dead on.

This is something I have pointed out also that Holladay was the one that turned BYU's WRs around. Because they are just like they were before with Cahoon when Doman was OC.
