I wonder if several of the smaller schools (Iowa St, Texas Tech, Kansas St, etc.) feared BYU. They see the writing on the wall that the Big XII is unstable; that the Power Five is eventually going to become the Great Four. So they are afraid that by bringing BYU into the club when their club dies, the Cougars will be one of the teams to survive and find its way to the G4 and then THEY will be the ones on left out in the cold.



Even as it stands they still might be. BYU is still a more attractive conference mate than those teams. If/When the Big XII folds, I wouldn't be surprised to see Oklahoma, Texas, et al more apt to bring BYU with them than an Iowa St.
