Jamaal is the second leading rusher in the nation in total yards

He sure looked good last game. Excellent timing on his bursts of speed. Fun to watch how he tries to get every last inch of space, almost refusing to go down.

One thing I noticed watching the replays is how often he'd use the o-line/d-line's positions to keep the scouting linebacker out of the play. The line would be blocking one guy, with a linebacker in the hole waiting for Jamaal, and he'd get the guy coming for him and then scoot around the outside of the other two players with the linebacker now stuck on the other side. He did it multiple times and usually picked up a lot of yards afterward. I'm sure most RBs are coached to do this but his timing was perfect almost every play he did it.

When was the last time we had someone in the top 10 in rushing? We are used to having our qbs at the top of the stats but not a running back. If he can keep healthy and the line can keep blocking reasonably well he will make a lot of money next year. Jamaal is not the only one high in NCAA standings. Kai Nacua is tied with 3 others for first in interceptions with 4. Both of these guys are going to have to be planned for and I hope the team can take advantage of it.

What is the single season rushing record? Jamaal has a shot, I would think.

Jamaal would have to get 880 yards over the next 7 games to surpass that -- 126 yards per game, or 110 per game if you include the bowl game.



Note, though, that Staley set that record in only 10.5 games--he went out of the Miss St game and didn't play in the last game or bowl game (bowl game wouldn't have counted anyways---bowl games only counted toward official stats starting in 2002).

Staley was also out during the New Mexico game too in 2001.

Yes, but because BYU had 13 regular season games, he still played in ~10.5 games.

880 over 8 games, and needing 110 including the bowl, (BYU is totally going bowling), seems doable. Especially with the November schedule.
