MSU Preview 2016

Game 1:30pm MST. Not sure which channel it will be one. Hopefully ESPN. Should be a good game.

This gives me hope. Unles Indiana is a lot better than I thin they are. Don't follow them.

I'm watching MSU vs Indiana (much less impressed) game tied at 14 right now.

Would be terrible for BYU if they win @ MSU next week and MSU loses this game to IND.

Tied 14 in the 4th qtr. Oops now down 21-14 with 5 min to go.

MSU lost 24-21 in OT. Now they won't be ranked.

Yeah, not likely. Overlooking a conference foe for a team you've never played before that doesn't count in the standings.

Wow. That's rough. If we keep it close I'll be impressed.

Pau'u is the biggest loss. But, he can make a big difference against Mississippi St. and Boise St., so hopefully they don't rush him back too soon.



Hopefully we get the opening kickoff and control the ball in the first half to lessen the sting of Tautu's targeting suspension.



Tuiloma hasn't looked great yet. Will we see improvement and will he make more of an impact this week, even if still limited on # of plays?



What are the chances we see Troy Warner this week? He can make a difference in the secondary, even if limited on the # of plays.

Last year I whined a lot--maybe more than I should have--about how TOM Holmoe was taking a huge risk trying to send a huge statement to P5 and especially the Big12 and THIS IS Y. This list and mounting losses is WHY. This is just the beginning of the list. I have to beleive the list will be longer than previous seasons as more depth, weaker depth, gets called on against very tough opponents and the injury list grows as does the loss column and morale and fandom with it. This season COULD get very ugly. It will test fans loyalty.

No wonder Bronco left. 12 million reasons AND to avoid the nastiest season BYU has faced. And bc fans love and will forgive Kalani, it won't be long before fans and media realize that TH hung our boys out to dry with a near impossible schedule that could decimate this team. Yes, credit him for trying. But this could blow up big time. Big risk. Bold move. I hope our boys can get through it.

In business there is a saying "Pigs get fat and Hogs get slaughtered." BYU is at risk to this phenomenon with this season and through this next gauntlet of games. BYU is at risk of getting slaughtered.

TH sold out our boys for a slim chance at a mess of pottage. He sold out our boys unnecessarily so. 4-8 isn't too far out of possibility. Will BYu have enough quality players remaining to even match up to UMass? This schedule nor 4-8 was necessary to get into the Big12. This mentality of "we will play anyone, anywhere"--part of Broncos mantra and legacy after he realized he wasn't getting his fictitious, mythical Quest for perfection was also a bit of a delusional sell out. Enjoy your money Bronco. Talk about a QUITTER. He cut and run before the toughest season. Well played Bronco. "We'll play anyone, anywhere, anytime.....oh, wait, I just realized that we don't have the players for a NC and we won't have the players to compete consistently at the Elite level, so I'm out of here."

I've said it over and over, BYU needs to try things the BSU way and not the P5 way until they actually get into a P5, which isn't likely to happen. BYU doesn't have the depth nor the talent at present. I love BYU! And I love our boys! But this is far more likely to get worse and not better this year.

Yes this is what it would be like if BYU were in a P5 conference. But reality check--BYU ISN'T. And by all looks it won't be. Jason Buck isn't an idiot, neither is Hans. And both have said being in a conferece and playing for a Conf championship is better than being independent long term. BYU and BYU fans have or will by end of season, be brought to their knees and realize the experiment failed (with no invite) and these players will have been sacrificial lambs.

Why all the gloom and doom on this thread? Get ready for another loss and maybe a bad loss today. The middle of our D is decimated (Tui and Pauu); our D backfield gets worse/more injured with each game; and take away our running game--assuredly to happen today--and BYU Is a very average mid-major football team.

I hope I'm wrong. But this next stretch, starting with today, could be a a very hard time for BYU football. Basketball anyone?

I hope they prove you completely wrong. And frankly, I'm expecting them to prove you wrong. Injuries happen every year. The injury list is quite long every year. These things happen. Jamaal isn't going down again, I can promise you that. Most of those injuries are practice related too. It's not the opponent, it's just crazy stuff happens. I tore my ACL in a BYU basketball class. My teacher tore his ACL chasing his little girl. Taysom got a Lisfranc fracture, what? Running to the endzone. It's not necessarily the opponent, it's just that these things happen. And I don't expect to go 4-8 at all. I'm pretty optimistic for 7-5 or even 8-4 against this tough schedule

Only a couple of those injuries happened in the games. Also note that we are on NATIONAL TV every week. The exposure has been fabulous. TH has put us into position to join the P5 and extra revenue to invest in the program. The media recognizes our value and as the best choice to join the Big12.
