Offensive problems not Taysom's fault

Kalani forgot - or the quote didn't include - the word "alone" or "all". Taysom is certainly not blameless in the equation of the offensive struggles through three games. The question is how much of it IS Taysom and how much could be corrected by a change.



My answer is I don't know. And because I don't know, I don't want to see a change made. Taysom is playing poorly, but we have had chances to be 3-0. We've been in every game. Taysom CAN play better and should continue to be given that opportunity until we either 1) start losing games by wide margins or 2) he doesn't start playing better.



I don't know when those would be but we're at least one full game away from that.

I do think that Taysom has missed some throws, but the poor play by the receivers and oline has been much more stark IMO. One of the things that the bench Taysom crowd is forgetting is that a bunch of the long plays that Tanner hit on last year were great catches by receivers going up and winning on jump ball situations. We lost 3 sr receivers last year that played with much more toughness than what our current group is playing at.

How do we know what Hill is expecting vs what the reciever does? Does the play call for a receiver to float out or come down hill?



No question there is misscommunication. Either the receivers aren't following the plays or Hill isn't or both. Regardless, the timing is way off and the receivers are out of sync with the QB. Remember all those stories we heard of Max Hall going out and throwing balls with Pita and Collie. I wonder if the same was going on with Hill and this receiving corps. Doubt it, since Hill was rehabbing.



What is "interesting" in those replays is Hill had time to throw the ball. As bad as the OL is Hill got time to throw the ball.

I think the point of Meikle's tweet is that, at the moment Taysom released the ball, it was a good pass. The receiver then did something unexpected while the ball was in flight that made it appear overthrown.

After Heaps, we all know accuracy in camp is one thing. Accuracy in the line of fire is another.

I guess I don't see the adjustment to get even more open that costs him a step. It's just a poor throw. It's a BYU QB should be expected to make 95 times out of 100.

Which Taysom has had before. Go watch the Nebraska game from last year, when he had a better oline, better receivers and better coaching. Don't get me wrong, I am not turning on Ty, but he needs to improve.

Ty Detmer in the coordinators corner confirmed that the receiver adjusted the route right as Taysom was releasing the ball and Taysom saw it and tried to compensate which caused the over throw.
