No, he's saying that a fan's opinion is foolish if a fan is trying to scapegoat the starting QB.



And he's right.



That's not saying that the starting QB doesn't have some work to do, but scapegoating that situation (isolating that as the single cause of the offensive hiccups) is wrong and shortsighted. That would let a whole lot of other people off the hook who most definitely should be feeling every bit as much heat as Taysom. In my view, the only position group that is pulling its weight is RB.

You can run a team with no offense up north and in Oregon State, but you can't do it at BYU and expect to survive.

There's a difference between calling someone foolish and calling a thought or action foolish.



Sometimes smart people do dumb things.

If he doesn't make a change to produce a better offense then he's the foolish one.

I mentioned Bronco in order to point out the hypocrisy of the media. The media hated Bronco, they love Kalani so they treat his comments different.

Bronco hated the media and the media knew it. That doesn't earn you any favors with them. Combine that with Bronco's disdain for a large portion of fans and you have a PR nightmare.



The nightmare is all moot if the team is winning and exceeding expectations, which Bronco's teams were not.



Kalani is in a bit of hot water. He needs to tread carefully. He has a lot of fans grumbling. He needs the press on his side to help explain the situation to the grumbling fans.

I thought Kalani answered the question about booing perfectly. He basically said we need to play better so that they don't have a reason to boo. You have to love a coach that understands fans get emotionally involved in the game, and doesn't fault them for it.

If Taysom remaining the starting QB is part of the coaches' strategy for maximizing likelihood of a W, and if there are clearly other "scapegoats" than just Taysom, I'm curious what non-QB change(s) are in the works. I don't expect Taysom's output to be dramatically different than what we have already seen, but if he still gets the call, I'd love to be proven wrong.

He isn't in hot water and he doesnt need to tread lightly. Fans are morons plain and simple. Everyone is a critic and everyone thinks they could do better while watching the game from a TV. It's 3 games in against 3 Pac12 teams, with a completely new coaching staff. Anyone that is thinking we might need to already make changes is a fool and can eat it.

Maybe I should know exactly what eating a D means, but I dont; plus, I don't have much of an appetite at the moment. New coaching staff or old, if the results are not what you want--wins not losses--then, at some level, something (or several things) merit change.

My real question is if not now, then when should changes be made? I doubt the new coaching staff is saying no changes are in order; rather, they are making decisions (I hope) to adjust/make changes/etc. that they believe will produce wins. Even if we were 3-0, my guess is the coaching staff is still constantly looking for ways for the team to improve. All of this requires some form of change. Maybe I'm wrong about what the coaches think or do or their philosophy. I'm just sharing what makes sense to me.
