I just have to point out that this number is really not very impressive. BYU has beat 6 BCS teams just in the last 3 years. Or do you mean something different by BCS than I think you mean? I am taking nothing away from their team though, they have built a great program. Although, let's be honest with ourselves. If they played in any other conference their wins would not be as high. It's not their fault though, they can only beat who they play. I can't wait to see some matchups between BYU and BSU now that the Cougars are back as a program.

Just to add my prick ranting perspective to this, BSU has beaten more ten win BCS teams than all other mid majors combined in the last decade.

BYU is 1-1 in their last two games against BCS teams.

Boise State is something like 5-0 in their last 5. You should look it up for us! :D

I'd be interested to see the stats- not questioning it, just too busy (or lazy) to go look for myself. Seriously, I'd like to see it. In many ways this could be a better argument for respect than BYU had for the many years of dominating the WAC.

I don't think your list is complete. You didn't put Oklahoma on the BSU list.

The bigger question is how do they do it? BSU is in a lousy TV market, in a small, Idaho town a thousand miles from anywhere. How do they go undefeated year after year? The "weak conference" doesn't answer the question. You could argue that the MWC is weak conference as well. (BYU nearly lost to New Mexico this year, and other lousy teams last year). The fact that BSU goes out, week in and week out and either defeats every team on their schedule, or they destroy most teams on their schedule. Here is my two cents on the subject:

1. They recruit well, not just speed and size, but smart players, motivated players. I think they have pretty good character too, I don't hear a lot of off the field issues about this program, so their recruiting is very good.

2. They know they cannot just sit back and say "we're going to play our game, and we prepare the same for every team, kind of stuff." They have smart coaches, aggressive coaches, who are not afraid to fake punts, go for it on 4th down, and they pretty well outwit the other coaches and players.

3. They know how to prepare for any given team. They knew what it would take to beat a very good TCU team, and they did those things (neutralize Jerry Hughes, stop their run game, get inside Dalton's head).

4. Neither the coaches or the players have real big egos, they know they have to bring it every game, they know they must out-smart and out-play their opponents (most of them anyway), they know they must execute, and they do.

Yes, I did. I put it in 2006 instead of when it actually happened in 2007 because that accomplishment reflects the 2006 season.

Thanks for looking that up. I did not know about a few of those, so it is actually BSU - 5, and the rest of the non-AQ teams - 6. I was wrong.

Good point. I would consider TCU better than every single one of those 10 win BCS teams on the list though.

That is sort of true. Beating ten win BCS teams really is tied to the opportunity to play them. Had we taken care of business this year against FSU and TCU, I think we would have at least had the chance....

That makes sense, because when you're a great non-AQ team, Florida and Ohio State are just begging to play against you, and we wouldn't have gotten screwed just like TCU and had to play vs the Donkeys. Also, I think that if Oklahoma had played some patsy instead of us this year, they would have kept Bradford (at least until the Texas game, anyway) and would have only lost two games.

PS-What exactly did BSU do to DESERVE to play Oregon twice and Oregon St once in the years that they won ten games? Oh, that's right, they scheduled them and got to play them on a good year.

So in what year did BSU get completely destroyed down at Georgia? I thought it was more recent than 2006/2007.
