13-1 over the last decade??? That includes a victory over the best team in the history of the MWC. (based on exact wording from previous posts....)

I agreed to eat crow after the TCU blowout of BSU, but since the game was not over by halftime (as predicted) nor did TCU win, I feel that I have the right to make the following statements. (all based on logic lessons taught to me by BYUtx and a few others.....)

WAC>MWC. Just as BYU beating OSU makes the MWC better than the PAC-10, using the same logic, BSU beating TCU makes the WAC better than the MWC.

BSU got tricky to beat TCU. 36 yards rushing???? That sounds more like a beat down manhandling of a weak overrated team than trickeration...Donkey State could never do that to a real team that plays in a "real" conference, could they???? That game was a fluke. TCU was just not motivated to win the Fiesta Bowl. They had nothing to play for.

BSU would have beat BYU 107-3. Doing simple math gives me this number, on a neutral field of course, or at LES, 100-3.

In all honesty, I am just messing, I dont like to gloat in victories or I told you so's, and I dont like to use dumb logic to prove points, which is why my above statements are ridiculous. I think the MWC has proven far superior to the WAC, and I think if TCU and BSU played again, it could go either way, and possibly more often than not in TCU's favor. TCU is a great team, Boise is better coached.

BYU needs to learn from both of these teams if we ever want to achieve their current levels of success.

Great game to watch, but the national talking heads are already calling both teams small, not good, undeserving, overrated, who have they beat, etc., etc.

If it was not for the BSU faked punt on their own 20, TCU wins.

OWNING is 44-14, BARELY beating is 17-10, and getting 1 TD by going for a 4th and 12.

So by your same logic did TCU own or barely beat BSU last year? All I have heard for months is that they manhandled them and owned them and were just too tough for them, even though the score was closer, 17-16.

Does TCU winning or losing really do anything to improve or disprove the credibility of the MWC or BYU?? I dont think so.

Just admit it, BSU is a good team, better than TCU. You can do it.

I just hate the Boise State-TCU matchup all together. All this game proved was that one "mid-major" is better then another "mid-major". It doesn't do anything to prove that the non-AQ schools can compete with the AQ schools. And just because TCU lost tonight doesn't mean that TCU would lose to any of the other schools in BCS games. We could have just watched the 2 best teams in college football tonight. We will never know cause it's not decided on the field.

Thinking about it makes me sick

Are you sure you're not a Boise State fan who enjoys watching BYU?

That said... TCU looked awful tonight.

But anyone who tries to turn this into a WAC>MWC campaign is just flat out retarded (although I'm not saying your thread was intending to do that)

Time to invite Boise to the MWC.

Move on. That has already been proven. I'm not sure how BSU or TCU beating Iowa or Georgia Tech would be more meaningful. Quite frankly, it wouldn't.

Come on guys. Quit with the sour grapes. TCU and BSU were 2 evenly matched teams and BSU was just that much more prepared. TCU should have been prepared for the fake punt, but they weren't. TCU should have came out the aggressor in the game but they didn't, they played scared for the first 1.5 quarters and BSU was the aggressor.

If this had been a boxing fight, TCU would have danced around the ring throwing jabs while BSU would have been the fighter chasing them around the ring throwing combinations. Anyone that thinks that this game would go much different if the teams played 10 more times, is crazy. I thought TCU was better then that. I was wrong. The only question I have left is how long is it going to take some BCS school to offer Chris Peterson a gazillion dollars to come coach its team? It only took Urban Meyer 1 undefeated season to get the job at Florida, Peterson has had multiple undefeated teams at BSU.

I am sure Benson will try to do it. The reality is if you take out Boise (Which I think is very likely to happen) the WAC is probably the second worst conference in Div 1-a football.

Or take the obvious, The of top 25 teams the MWC will have at the end of the season

MWC

TCU

BYU

Utah

WAC

BSU

When was the last time a WAC team besides Boise was in the top 25?

Boise St is a great football program that plays in a pretty bad conference.

2006 and 2007. Hawaii finished ranked both years.

I am a Boise State fan, but also a big BYU fan. Graduated from BYU and go to quite a few games. I love the Cougs. Thanks for realizing though that I wasnt trying to turn this into a WAC>MWC thread. That was TIC using logic forced upon me whenever I make any sort of contrarian viewpoint on the board.

MWC>WAC. I will readily admit that this year.

Actually the title to this thread should be changed in about a month or two to: Boise State University: Property of MWC.

ACtually the only thing i am hearing from national guys is that bsu is a top 5 team starting out next year and that if they win out they are guaranteed a shot at the natinonal title. that could be tcu. way to blow it.

i am not giong to make any excuses for tcu. they blew it and i am mad at them. if they would have simply caught the balls that were put right in their hands that game would have been won by tcu. they played flat and diddn't show up. they played like they did against utah last year. i am really ticked off. now bsu will continue to dominate. if they were beat thei mistique would have disappeared and given the mwc a straight shot to a bcs bowl every even with one loss. now bsu is poised to be the first no aq team to play for a national title.

I am so mad at tcu! think of what a huge statement it would have been if they had beat bsu!! mwc 5-0. mwc is the only realy non aq conferfence. we would have made a huge statement that we were better tahn many aq teams and no other non aq teams have anything on us. instead they blew it by playing flat.

This game was huge for our conference and tcu blew it. i will get over my anger but tcu just played like crap. bsu played well, but not good enough to beat tcu if they just played a normal game. their guys were dropping balls all over the place and I thought the tcu offensive play calling sucked.

This is exactly how I feel. I was surprised at how good BSU's defense was, and they had a great gameplan for handling TCU's defensive rush---and yet it was still just barely enough to win the game. If TCU played anywhere near their potential, this becomes an easy win.

Boise State is a great team. But this game only proves they are better than TCU on a down night.

You need to fix your post to read:

Boise St>MWC.

Boise was an excellent team this year and proved so. They surprised me. They would have won the MWC this year apparently. But I don't think ANY team in the WAC would have finished higher than 5th if the MWC and WAC were all one conference. In fact, I can make a pretty compelling argument that no other WAC team would have finished higher than 6th.

Huge PROPS to Boise. They shut a lot of people last night, myself included. They made the plays they needed and TCU didn't.

I can't wait for the Broncos to join the MWC and leave their sorry conference behind them - just like BYU and Utah did 10 years ago.

Obviously the difference in the game was the interception returned for the touchdown. BSU's offense generated 10 points, as did TCU's. I had the same impression last night that I had after watching BSU beat Oregon. BSU had a ton to do with the other team looking bad. When one talks about the dropped passes leading to the outcome, that is right; but, assuming that a team catches every pass thrown it’s way, one must assume that TCU must have played a perfect game. When one team must play a perfect game to beat the other team, then that other team is usually considered to be the better team - right?

Perhaps this belongs in another thread, but I thought (and said on the other board) that Utah should have been the national champs last year after the Sugar Bowl. Considering what TCU did this year, and how BSU handled them, I'm saying the same thing about BSU this year. And it bugs me that the talking heads at ESPN say that BSU hasn't "done enough." and they talk about strength of schedule, and how the teams "don't play the same schedule" Hello! Every sport that has an unbalanced schedule has teams that don't play the same level of competition, yet how often do we hear that the Dodgers from the NL West can't be Baseball's champ because the NL West sucks, or the Celtics cannot be the NBA champs because the Eastern Conference is weak, or the Chargers, even if they win the Super Bowl will not be the NFL champs because the AFC West is a joke? it doesn't work elsewhere why should it work in college football?

After watching the game last night I'm convinced that BSU could beat either Texas or Alabama
